"Tomorrow Never Knows" kicked the psychedelic era in rock music into high gear. John Lennon pinched the lines in the first verse from the Tibetan Book of the Dead, which LSD guru Timothy Leary translated into English as part of the manual for taking acid trips he published back in the sixties. "She Said She Said" and "I'm Only Sleeping" are the other two psychedelic classics on The Beatles Revolver album.

Tomorrow Never Knows was written by John and has only 1 chord from start to finish. A Beatles first, and last. A Ringo malapropism furnished John with the title. The “whirling” effect in the background was made by George Harrison on his tamboura. It’s an ancient Indian guitar with 4 strings similar to a sitar. But it is designed to emit long drones instead of melodic music. Since John was pretty much strumming an A chord through the whole song George just kept hitting the equivalent of the A note on the tamboura giving that constant whirling effect in the background. The Beatles weren’t just playing Love Me Do on regular guitars anymore lol

Love your reaction, however I must recommend something when reacting to any Beatles song: use only tracks that the official Beatles youtube channel has uploaded to ensure that you're listening to the real thing and not some knock-off, cover, or some bootleg outtake or something. As you must know, attempting to upload a video with a significant amount of Beatles song audio onto youtube without it getting taken down is difficult. One then has to ask, how did this random channel/person upload a full song of The Beatles and it remain up there for you to be able to react to it? My guess is because it's not the official song. As a Beatles nerd, to my ear, it sounds like the original vocals, bass, guitar, and percussion tracks have been synced to some homemade initiation of the organ and tape loops samples/background effects. Luckily, save for the imitated background noises/samples, it's close to the original. But, as I said, I recommend using/reacting to songs from the official Beatles youtube channel as 99.9% of the time, any beatles song you find on youtube that isn't uploaded from the official channel is some cover or knock-off imitation. Keep up the great content!

Try again, you won't be disappointed as this song rewrote in 1966 what could be accomplished in a recording studio and was so far ahead of it's time that it still might be ahead of it's time, it's that revolutionary and out there.
