The Beatles performing “We Can Work It Out.”
"In "We Can Work It Out, Paul did the first half, I did the middle eight. But you've got Paul writing, 'We can work it out, we can work it out' - real optimistic, y'know, and me impatient, 'Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend'." (John Lennon)
'We Can Work It Out' became The Beatles' sixth single in a row to top the US charts. At the time, no other band had achieved such success. The track took over 11 hours to perfect - up to this point, that was the longest period The Beatles had spent in the studio on a single song.
At Twickenham Film Studios, a little over three weeks after the single was recorded, The Beatles made three separate promo films for 'We Can Work It Out'. Like all the other films shot that day, the medium was two-inch black and white videotape, a relatively new format for the time. Many TV stations, however, weren't set up for videotape, so 16mm copies were made for distribution worldwide.

Understatement of the century, but yes, they particularly do on this recording, it can never be anybody else, no matter how many people ever cover this in the future, there is a thing that these two had that you absolutely can never capture or match or surpass it, ever, it is perfectly vocally matched, and has an odd carousel quality to the song that is unhinged and brilliant.

They brought up the end of the final years of playing and recording music via analog electronics.. Had they entered IN the new digital era their warmth and natural style would have likely gone unrecognized and perhaps would never even gained the fame and respect it/they did.. We were so so lucky to have had this phenomenon happen in the early 1960s when there WAS nothing BUT vinyl; leave alone all the wonderful record-jacket artwork at the time; THEIRS especially so tastefully done to match what was inside when we put it on the turntable for the very first time !! I grew up with the Beatles. We sang their songs in the mirror, grew our hair like them, dreamed about them. Then I remember...they began to change. They began to turn into hippies....then they looked like Beatnics, not Beatles. Then yellow submarine came along.....Then Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts......all nonsense. The songs didn't make sense to me....then the drugs. They looked drugged up....Then it all faded away....Then WINGS came along. Never liked that band. For a nostalgic instance I was waiting for the Beatles to be resurrected. That never happened. Then I well.....grew up I guess. The songs I go back to and enjoy? When they dressed in suits. Ha. Seriously. How life changes. Then college....Then John Lennon gets shot. In the back no less. He should never have said that the Beatles were more famous than Je...us. Shameful thing to say. Then I filed Beatles back to.....well.....yesterday.

Really it’s the life track to so many millions that were at, or just a little younger than the Beatles. I wore out so many albums trying to understand better what they were possibly saying and thinking at that time. It is profoundly regrettable that they did not have enough time to work out the kinks between each of them to allow for a possible reunion of some sort. I think they would have been much wiser and older and new music from them might have been spectacular.

@Lunatic4Bizcas
@Lunatic4Bizcas Жыл бұрын
@@junodonatus4906 : The Beatles were great no doubt, but in my view they were not the greatest of all time as many like to claim nor the best of their generation. They had tremendous songs no doubt. Some of the best were due to the genius wizardry of their sound engineers like Phil Spector (Yes; the psycho). Across the Universe and The Long and Winding Road come to mind. As far as their topping lists, I could care less. A lot of those lists are contrived by mainstream corporations and are nothing more than bias fluff designed to manipulate the masses by perpetuating a myth, which was the result of heavy advertising and propagandist praise to begin with. To me, the Rolling Stones were more influential on what rock became. There have been bands influenced by the Beatles no doubt, but most of them aren't nearly carbon copies and have only taken from The Beatles what suits them. Critics like to point out how The Stones early on took a Bealtes' song and made it their own as if that is the benchmark for concluding that the Beatles are superior. ¡ How laughable ! The Stones' brought rebellion to rock and roll and there was hardly anything pretentious about them (At their height). Momma's little Helper or 19th Nervous Breakdown were two tracks that could've easily been punk rock songs years before that genre even emerged. As far as experimentation goes, the best bands of the 60's in that regard were King Crimson and The Mothers of Invention.
@junodonatus4906
@junodonatus4906 Жыл бұрын
@@Lunatic4Bizcas There were more eighties bands than I care to count right now that were influenced by Led Zeppelin but ended up being cheap copies, like Kingdom Come or Whitesnake. And today, Greta Van Fleet. We can talk about the great songs of many bands but I think that overall greatness has to do with innovation, setting trends not copying them, and of course great songs. Even though art is a matter of taste I think it's safe to say that most people would put both Led Zeppelin and The Beatles above The Rolling Stones.

Lip sync sarcasm is the tone of this one. John's looks are priceless as he pretends to play. Ringo is beating on air and George is also air strumming. Paul's lip syncs to the vocals are almost spot on. I think they were hilarious overall!

that's because they were both geniuses and crucially, recognised that in eachother. thats why that period of early cooperation produced such magic in terms of songwriting - each genius allowed input/constructive criticism by another he deemed to be on his level, thus the songs went through a crucible of forging that spat out anything deemed unworthy not just by one genius, but two. consequently only the best made it through in addition each others forte was complemented by the others. john had a love for passionate, raw and rhythmic music whereas paul excelled at melody and hooks. when combined together with the sheer will of the band in the early days, this amounted to a formidable songwriting partnership in fact so formidable that the band's third genius - who would have been lead singer/songwriter in almost any other band in history.. was largely relegated to bit part role in terms of songwriting - usually having to come up with literal all time classics to get his songs on the albums and we all benefited massively from this

LETRAS/LYRICS: Try to see it my way, Do I have to keep on talking till I can't go on? While you see it your way, Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone. We can work it out, We can work it out. Think of what you're saying. You can get it wrong and still you think that it's alright. Think of what I'm saying, We can work it out and get it straight, or say good night. We can work it out, We can work it out. Life is very short, and there's no time For fussing and fighting, my friend. I have always thought that it's a crime, So I will ask you once again. Try to see it my way, Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong. While you see it your way There's a chance that we may fall apart before too long. We can work it out, We can work it out. Life is very short, and there's no time For fussing and fighting, my friend. I have always thought that it's a crime, So I will ask you once again.
