No monitors and screaming girls. They probably had a hard time hearing themselves. Yet, they still sing in perfect harmony and play in perfect time. Amazing.
@Tony-yp7okАй бұрын
Absolutely. I was a working musician for 25 years and I can’t imagine having no monitors, never mind the entire audience screaming at the top of their lungs. To pitch the vocals that well is truly incredible. John in this clip wouldn’t have been able to hear anything other than his own guitar and a bit of Ringo.
@johnarnold893Ай бұрын
@@Tony-yp7ok So you're saying they couldn't hear the massive amps and speakers behind them?
@Tony-yp7okАй бұрын
@@johnarnold893 They would hear their own amp behind them, but that just has guitar in it… that’s about all they’d hear. A cranked up AC30/AC100 is pretty deafening and John wouldn’t have been able to hear the other guys’ guitars very well as his own amp would be drowning them out. The vocal mics would be in the PA system. The PA speakers would have been positioned in front of them (to avoid feedback), pointing towards the audience. Trust me, in that situation you can’t hear yourself sing at all, which makes it very difficult to pitch well. The sound for performers on stage (even today) is completely different to what the audience hears.

Rather amazing that the band can play and sing pretty much in tune, on time, without floor monitors to be able to hear themselves, especially with a screaming crowd that is eons louder than presented on the video. No earbud monitors, no fold-back speakers with a specific monitor mix musicians enjoy today. The lads literally could not properly hear themselves playing and singing.

@@alanoliver5762 The Beatles themselves stated they could barely hear themselves and would just wing it and mostly get it OK. But also the main reason why they were not considered a top stellar live band in their touring days. Have you ever been onstage speaking/singing into a mic without a monitor with noise from the audience? I have, and one can barely hear themselves, and I could not hear from the front of house speakers facing the audience, I was behind them. With the thousands of screaming girls, The Beatles could not properly hear anything.
