Hello from Australia Shawn, Janice and Family. I grew up for 13 years on a small holding of 60 acres and watching this video took me back over 60 years to that time. We had a milking cow herd and sold the cream to a large emporium and 3000 laying hens that supplied several local grocers with eggs. Dad also had a fulltime job and us 4 children all worked daily on farm jobs before and after school. It was a good clean life and taught excellent work ethics and stamina that were valuable in later life. I wish all children could be blessed with such upbringings whatever country they live in. Congratulations Shawn, it is hard but very rewarding work. Warmest Good Wishes from 'Oz' !🌞💯

We have used a wood burning stove since 1999. It is so much nicer than central heat. Love seeing all of the creaks. Love the sound and watching the creeks running through the wooden area. Prayers that Janice gets better soon and can return to the camera. Shawn, we truly enjoyed this video. I love to can food. For Christmas, my husband bought me a Presto electric canner. I made Cowboy Candy today. We have several friends who love Cowboy Candy; but, they do not have the equipment to can it.

Thank you Shawn for the tour of your property beyond which we normally see. I wouldn't be wanting to spend too much time where there are a large number of snakes either! It is nice that you can still appreciate the beauty of that area in wintertime. What a difference the goats have made to the section of ground that you are reclaiming from the trees.They made quick work eating through all that undergrowth. The combination of watching the flames of the log burner and listening to your relaxing voice was the perfect ending. Keeping Janice in my prayers and for all of you too. Have a blessed day 🙏❤️🏴

Shawn this video was very informative. I enjoyed seeing all of the areas of the homestead, the sound of running water in the creeks is so soothing. There is a sense of peacefulness as you are walking around, showing us each part of the homestead. Then you gave a second sense of comfort in lighting the fire for the evening. I live in a big city but I can understand your love of the land. Thank you

WOW! Shawn, I enjoyed your video. I watch a lot of outdoors where people would build a cabin and NEVER HAVE, I SEEN ANYONE CLEARLY EXPLAIN BY TEACHING AS YOU DID. My daddy had a fireplace, and even he didn't do it correctly. He changed to gas. It is organized and not " maybe." Thank you so much. Andrew made the broken toy a useful tool. Congratulations Andrew. All of you are very creative. Janice, you take care, darling. You don't need to rush. We all love you. I walked for half an hour in my wooded yard. Nature walks. Do you notice old bird nest in how it is built? I find strings of pastic tarp and leaves, twigs. Today, I found one with those nest building materials plus a piece of plastic meat wrapper like from lunch meat. Humans learn from animals. I wonder if they made a fire. One time on a very cold night, years ago a mouse ran to the living room and sat near the heater. The floor was just right for his/ her body. I have shoulder problems and I asked God to help me kill it so as to not be in our home. On strick with the broom is all it took. It was amazing to see it come to a heat source.

Thanks for a great Vlog Shawn. I am a winter lover and appreciate the beauty in every season. I'm from Australia though so we don't get beautiful snow like you! Your property is absolutely beautiful. As a child, i'd stay at my grandparents 6 acre property and I absolutely loved getting out in my gumboots! I have wonderful memories of learning to swim in the dam and catching yabbies with liver tied on a string and a net. We were never without something to do! A child's dream adventure. I live in rural Victoria and believe it or not, we also have a wood fire for the winter. It gets down to around minus 4c here in the winter and up to around 46c in the summer, which i find very unpleasant not being a lover of the heat! Thanks again for a great Vlog. Our family really enjoying watching :)

How do you heat the summer kitchen?
@debrasnipes74312 күн бұрын
Thanks for a great winter tour of the Homestead lands! That fire in the stove surely looks cozy. One question I do have… do you use any type of fan or anything to help draw the heat back into the bedroom area of the house so the kitchen doesn’t get too uncomfortably warm? We had a fireplace when I was little, but we didn’t use it to heat the house unless we had a bad storm and the power went out. Then we just blocked off the living room (by hanging an old quilt up over the doorway) to heat that area and Daddy put potatoes wrapped in foil into the coals, to eat later. It was just bundle up and cover-up when we went to bed and that was pretty miserable at times! Praying that Janice continues to improve and that you all have a very Happy New Year to come! 🙏❤️🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

@ozarkfamilyhomesteadКүн бұрын
Hi Anna! I think you might be referring to the gamma lids that I use on my buckets of grain and such? If so, I found the best prices by buying them in bulk from Azure Standard. I have also seen them at farm stores like Orscheln and Tractor Supply in the past. If nothing else, they are also available on Amazon, but I've found that they cost quite a bit more there. :)
