My home town! And my primary school Mwanyanbo! I also feel you left some important areas. 1. The old railway station with its big baobab tree where people used to write names. 2. The sisal estate and surrounding. 3. Am not completely sure but where Bata is , it’s one if not the one of the first storey building owned by Late Haji. 4. Apart from the ACK church there is also a Catholic Church which is also an old building. I could hear the church bells from our house . 5. Apart from the local tribes we have many other communities that call it home. 6. The tourist destination could have got more coverage. There was an animal orphanage not sure if it is still there. 7. The Sagalla hill ( as mentioned on comment) is very beautiful place, you can actually visit to the top ( not sure how far) by road. I used to visit when young. As someone mentioned, it would have been better if you had a local guide. If you want to see the beautiful landscape and also night sky, visit the lion hill , near the tsavo gate entrance.

2:23 the road goes to tsavo east, you'll pass by an area called sikujua, and annex then voi gate, 2:54 the hills are the sagalla hills. Voi has tremendously grown over the years thanks to devolution, before there used to be only two mpesa shops before the 2010s, notable hotels tsavo park hotel, distar and fine breeze (before devolution), so far new establishment have sprung up 8:08 few buses enter voi town, coast Bus, crown, chania, simba, busscar(not sure), Imani, vanga, and most shuttles plying Nairobi Mombasa route
@LIVKENYA2 жыл бұрын
Indeed devolution has played a part in the growth of the town.

Voi can become the future capital of tourism in kenya. From a European perspective, one gets a fast train to any European airport and then gets another fast train to Voi from JKIA and they are in Tsavo and also not far from the shores of Indian Ocean. When the Voi airstrip is ready to accommodate jambojet this might be realised.

Voi is an amazing town personally i felt you didnt do it justice just a suggestion when going into a new town have a mwenyeji help you move around you missed so much that could have made this town even more interesting. From the nice hotels that are in and outside the town to the cultures and the best food joints and the night life and also the hidden backpackers in the area that would have given it more interesting.

Interesting place: 07:36 The cemetery is to remember mainly the soldiers from the Commonwealth who died in Kenya during WW1 (not 2) between 1914-1918 , when german and commonwealth troops were fighting in this area against each other. Germany left all colonies worldwide in 1919 as consequence of the Treaty of Versailles. These african colonies were then divided between Great Britain, France, Belgium, Portugal and South Africa.
