It is not so easy as you think underground man. Those who HIGHLIGHT beauty are very important also - which is why TEACHERS are so important. They have the sensibility to MAKE CONNECTIONS and offer their discoveries in a COHERENT WAY. A work of art without someone to indicate that it EXISTS - dies!!! The creative process and the exposition of all art in ANY form must be seen to live. Not everything is "original" - but the appreciation of it - and the particular way it is shown IS original. The person who put this together did a great job!

The films of Akira Kurosawa fascinate me because they’re all so different in tone and genre but they all ask the same questions like „What is honor?“, „What does it mean to be mortal?“, „What are we fighting for in this endless battle called life?“ and I think that’s beautiful

Thank you for this moment of happiness and wonder. These fleeting images, these scenic flashes, brought back to mind all of Kurosawa's films. Their desperate beauty in the face of a tragic world. Art remains our only recourse against the suffering and meaninglessness of existence. Beauty may not save the world, but it is all we have left to keep us from dying while we're still alive. This little montage made me cry with joy.

Akira Kurosawa, who is known as a sublime Japanese film director. Kurosawa, who won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for "Rashomon" (1950) and was internationally acclaimed for his work on "Seven Samurai," has also provided excellent direction in this film, making it very worthwhile to watch. Kurosawa's many excellent works strongly inspired George Lucas, Spielberg, James Cameron, JJ Abrams and others who were still young at the time, but are now active as prominent directors, and led the world of film, becoming an object of admiration for young directors. Akira Kurosawa is without a doubt a legendary man, and his achievements will never be forgotten.

I just watched Ran last night, it was the first in color Kurosawa film I've watched and it was absolutely beautiful. I think spending decades filming in black and white allowed him to nail down the fundamentals so when he was finally able to use color he was able to use it to its full effect. I won't forget that shot, you used it in this; of the man riding horse back towards the camera in a field and there's a ray of sunshine following his path. That's the sort of stuff you can never plan for and when it does happen it's like magic.

The landscape defines the person. Kurosawa expressed this to the fullest. I think he reminds Westerners, who have a tradition of anthropocentrism, of forgotten landscapes. But he was also skillful in portraying people. It is said that Kurosawa respected Ozu. Ozu accurately captured and brilliantly portrayed people who blended into nature. He accomplished what even Kurosawa could not. But ...... Kurosawa is more famous now. Kurosawa's beauty is a proof that he was more concerned with the universality of the landscape than anyone else to the end.

A beautiful montage using common scenic elements of different Kurosawa's movies. The most suttle passage is the scene where a couple looks at the bright stars in the dark sky and the next scene is of a moving car whose black painted metal body reflects the street lights at night. This is poetic. Thank you.
