I believe his commitments back in the States meant he had to return - he was a very young man with family and work making demands on him, he was expected to fulfil those obligations. I am a straight male and never thought I would watch a film like this. But I had heard nothing but great things about this movie so, being a lover of cinema, I finally watched it for the first time tonight. I am awestruck. This movie just GETS what infatuation and strong romance FEELS like, in film form. Everything from the direction, the performances, the cinematography, the musical score, the sounds of nature in the countryside, this movie just feels so dreamlike and yet, everything feels so real. So raw. So powerful. This movie just highlights how low effort most of the romance films are today. It’s been hours since the end credits rolled and I’m STILL thinking about this film. Bravo to all involved in getting this film to the cinemas.

Let alone a gay sexual encounter between an adult and a teenager. If this actual story existed in real life, there is jail time carried over to the adult, no matter what the reason. If this is ok to many viewers - then teenage female weddings to adult male should also be ok - priests having sexual favors with teenagers are ok - monogamous practices in some religious sects are ok - and worse of all, your sons and daughters engage in this type of relationship. after all, its about love right???

There's just something about this film...the languorous summer atmosphere, the idyllic rural Italian setting, the burgeoning love between its two protagonists...that I've not been able to shake since I saw it for the first time three years ago. Films are supposed to transport us to another time and place and indeed, they often do, but this one doesn't so much as transport as it makes you feel EXACTLY what its characters are going through. Every touch, every breath, every bit of sunlight hitting their skin...it's magical and EVERY time watching it is like watching it for the first time. I love it. A pure evocation of the tragic beauty of a fleeting summer romance in a lush foreign setting.

@anahdnwn Жыл бұрын
I’ve seen this film over and over again throughout the past few years. It’s never left me, becoming almost apart of who I am within my childhood to young adult years. I never thought a book, a film, could impact me in such a profound way, and yet I find myself coming back to it every so often when I need a reminder of life. This film is not only about love between two people and the harsh circumstances that separate them, it’s also about bearing the pain, and understanding that through it all, what you had, and what you can have, will always be a possibility. That the possibility of such a love in itself is beautiful, and through it we can live. I think this film, along with Portrait of a Lady on Fire, will always understand that simple part of me; neither films are about a man and a man, or a women and a women, they’re about two people, just people, in love. Though I believe Portrait of a Lady resonates with me more, through this film, I can always remember. I can always understand the love I’ve felt within myself as a teenager, and how it’s left me in life. I’m seventeen, same as Elio, and as for growing old, if I do, I hope not to waste it.

Man, I just love to make me suffer and keep on remembering this film. Like, it gives me this nostalgic sorrow that is unique, painful but addictive. As always, your portrayed the beauty of this movie perfectly, thank you 💚

What a beautiful yet heartbreaking movie it is. The fact that Oliver can move on with his life but elio will always somewhat be "somewhere in italy" and with oliver in his heart. The first love never truly goes away.

It's the sad thing about websites like that. If CMBYN had been a netflix original, it would still be there. Netflix rents movies, and sometimes it can be really expensive (like this movie), so they only rent it for a few moments at a time. Rest assured though, it's been on netflix twice already so it might come back!

I am happy that I live in these times exactly and I've had an opportunity to watch this movie. It woke up feelings I didn't know I'd had, not to mention I'd missed. Thanks to this movie I've started to appreciate each end every sunny day, I love the very particular light you can get only on a summer hot day. I've also learned to appreciate analog photography, because with a negative you can create the same colors, warm and sunny. I can't even describe all those feelings I feel when I think about this movie. It's definitely The Movie of my life.

There are a very few films and books I have experienced, about which, when people ask me, I very simply say “the beauty of it haunts me to this day.” And that’s all I CAN say. This is not only one of them (like you didn’t know that was coming), but it is THE film that I first started saying that about.

I think the whole movie is truly great, but the last scene where Chalamet just looks at the fireplace and Visions of Gideon plays on, is the most beautiful scene of all. And also peak acting.

Luca Guadagnino did an amazing job with this movie . I was surprised when I learned that it wasn't even nominated for best picture.

I love your video, and the song "Mystery of Love." It's beautiful! I read the novel Call me by your Name after I got it for Christmas, and I enjoyed it very much. It was a very well written romance!!
