The Beauty of Green Mountain Lookout

Күн бұрынAn early autumn hike to the Green Mountain Lookout, east of Darrington, WA. Beautiful colors in the upper meadows and great views to Glacier Peak, the Mountain Loop area, and all the way up to Mt Baker and Shuksan to the north. I was the first one up the meadow on this particular morning and got to see many marmots, grouse, and other wildlife as well. I also found a good batch of meadow mushrooms and a coral mushroom that made for great appetizers when I got back home.

Nice work. I would love to operate my portable ham radio from that lookout. I have been studying the accessible peaks within 2 hours of Battle Ground, WA that are inside the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. I never realized how many mountain roads and trails we have to enjoy here. Now that I am retired, I want to see these places.

Wondered how this was doing. At one point the road was washed out 8 miles away.
