The Beauty of Japanese Swords: A visit to the Sword Dealers in Asagaya, Tokyo

This time I visited Mr. Koichiro Matsukawa, owner of Seikeido in Asagaya, Tokyo.
He introduced me to two famous swords and told me a valuable story about his thoughts on swords and his hopes for the future.

The stories are very earnest and it is amazing to see the blade shape of Sano Yukihide's sword. I believe that shape gives the best control of the sword, hencewhy it is a Historically Important Sword.

I think maybe what can also help the increase of sword enthausias are Koryū which also are spreading in Europe for example.. there are schools like Hōkushin Ittō-Ryū, Mugai Ryu etc. and i think many practitioners overseas who also study Japanese culture and art outside the usual training have an appreciation for Nihonto new and old.

若い人の興味をどれだけ引く事が出来るかに掛かっている気がします。 刀剣乱舞などで刀ファンが増えている様ですが、若い人で経済的に刀買える人は極めて少ないと思うのでお店はご苦労が多いのではないでしょうか。 私は若い時は何とか買えましたが今は棚ぼたでもない限り無理です (^_^;)

刀剣歴３年ですが失礼します。 打ち刀限定ですが、２尺３寸（刃長７０ｃｍ）で750～850ｇほど 価格はピンキリで２０万～数千万、億ほど ただ「人に自慢できる刀は３００万から」と聞いた事あります。 例）大和守安定　３５０万（銀座誠友堂で４５０万） 　　兼定（之定）３８０万 　　新藤五国光　短刀　７００万　 同田貫正国の銘より改名前の上野介の刀が有名、つか見つｎかりませんでした。 葵美術のオークションで同田貫上野介銘の打刀が１９５万で落札された過去がありました。
