Back in the late 2000s, I once hit 6 out of 7 of the 30% scrolls on a Green Scarab. I think at the time, it was the highest atk scarab to ever exist in Scania at 64 atk. I hit the first 4 and failed the 5th time but it didn't break. I could have sold it like this but I decided to yolo the last 2 upgrade slots with two more 30%. To my surprise, I hit them both. It was one of the happiest Maplestory moments I have ever had. Me and my Maplestory friends were so hyped. After a few minutes, I smegad the claw to try and sell it. I remember the FM room me and my friends were in instantly got super crowded because the whole server wanted to see the claw. There was even a spam chat bidding war from the people who wanted to buy it. The highest offer I got, if I remember correctly, was I think 2.1bil. The most mesos I've ever had was 400mil. So I decided to sell it to the bidder. The next day someone whispered me inquiring about the claw. He told me his friend wrote my name on a piece of paper after my smega so when he gets on he can message me because he needed a GG claw. I told him I sold it already. He asked how much. I told him that I sold for 2.1bil. He was sad and he told me that he would have paid 4bil+ for it. I felt so sad because I could have gotten more than what I sold it for. This moment taught me something useful in life, and that is to be more patient and not act on an impulse. This was one of my best memories of Maplestory. I miss this game and my Maplestory friends!

If it makes you feel any better I once bought a Purple Surfboard off some dude, I traded like 3 years worth of items for it & spent like $300 as well, lol. Then rumors came that an event was coming where the PSB would be re-released (I was in Scania & had 1 of only 2 PSBs in existence). I had never had good items before so I didn't understand how the max meso thing worked, I always thought if an item was in a shop for max mesos & I even had 1 meso on me it couldn't sell. I went to sell it off before it became worth much less & I got offers of up to $20B. I had it in my shop for 2,147,483,647 mesos (the max) & thought it couldn't be bought... I was wrong. A guy that had been on my buddylist for years bought it, then ghosted me forever, I think changed his username. While I did have 2B I probably traded like $4~$5B + $300 to get it in the first place, big loss, lol.

passing 2 10% in a row on a dex bamboo at KPQ was my best scrolling moment. The ACC was nuts for a warrior at that level. I think I ended up passing a 3rd 10% by the end of it. I sat on that Bamboo hat for soooo long. I really know that feeling of the korean guy trying to land 4x 10%.

Way way back when I was able to godly scroll a maple claw. I was a bishop and I had tons of extra meso due to letting people leech so to pass time while I advertised I would scroll random stuff and sell it. I went through thousands of items but I was able to do the maple claw and I'm sure it's still in rotation today if windia still exists. Hit 6 of 7 attack 10% and I had so many night lords begging me to sell it to them. Can't remember exact price but it was an astronomical amount back then in the billions and mesos weren't easy to come by. Never hit that many in a row again and I did surf boards too, sauna robes when those were all the rage and the work gloves. Pretty sure I supplied many early thieves with gear in the early 2000s. Wanted to get back into maple but haven't played since 09 and honestly from the videos I've watched it's nowhere close to the same any more so I would not enjoy it anymore especially at my age.

My scrolling strat was to have a bunch of trash scrolls and items that I used in the hopes that those would fail so the probabilty for the scroll I wanted to work would go up. Now I'm not sure if that actually makes any difference but I did manage to create the only 10 attack work gloves in the maple europe beta with very low resources and no free market.

God i hate scrolling so much. Especially in maplestory. It feels like the rate is 25-50% less than what it says. Like 30% scrolls feel like they're 20-15% instead. It was so much work that I tried to ignore it for a very large part of the time. But of course, instead, I did cosmetic RNG 🤠
