patreon.com/BlueBoyPhin Thank you for watching this video, it took so much out of us to create, many long nights of talking, editing, didnt sleep hardly any for the days up until we posted. This is our magnum opus of a video, and we can do it again. we are still in japan writing the script for the next video about to set off to the next location. But we desperately want to make this happen without sponsors on the videos, so we have created a patreon, where we will be sharing behind the scenes, deleted scenes from this video, and so much extra footage of our adventure's and a lot more, I have always wanted to do a patreon but i never felt like i had something to really give back but I want this to be a new era for pokemon discoveries and we are just getting started. we have so much more information im dying to share. but I want every video with to be carried with care and I want to tell these stories through our lens and give them the human effort they deserve. If you are in the place where you can comfortably support these future videos, we would love to bring more to you. Thank you regardless for watching this. it really was made by 2 people giving it their true hard work and love.

This is one of the best pokémon-related videos I’ve seen. And I emphasize the “pokémon-related” part, as this documentary feels more as a way of describing the futile endeavor of life trying to preserve itself, to say “I was here”, and that in itself might indirectly be the inspiration behind Unown’s existance. “I was and I felt, I want to share it with you”. I used to live on Awaji Island, the real life equivalent to Johto's Whirl Islands. The island divides the Seto Inland Sea from the Pacific Ocean. The inland sea has a slightly higher water level than the Pacific, which creates perpetual whirlpools where the two meet. They have short boat tours where you can see them up close. The island's most famous deities are Izanagi and Izanami. The legend goes that Izanagi, from the heavens, dipped his spear into the waters and whirled them up, and when he pulled it out, the crystallized droplets that fell became the islands of Japan. For that reason, Awaji Island is considered to be the origin island, and there is a famous shrine to Izanagi located there. It's a really cool place and worth spending a day or two there if you take a trip to Japan.

Hearing this justified a large amount of feelings that had never been understood or acknowledged by others. The kids and adults around those real life ruins no doubt have lived their whole lives feeling the same thing for different reasons. That's what makes this all so special. Game Freak wanted us to know that feeling, to understand and be curious, and feel alive as you look at Unown and pursue the bigger picture of life and its meanings. This is kinda why I dont care for the new games. The older pokemon games felt like a loveletter from a loving adoptive parent who painstaikingly takes the time to not only craft a beautiful world but a beautiful world crafted for YOU to be interested in and learn from. The newer ones feel like a neglectful parent who just drops you a "present" arbitrarily not even caring if its a special day for you or something you want or asked for. Saddest thing for me is I got my little slice of heaven, kids these days dont even have a clue what theyre missing out on, and in this case maybe ignorance is bliss because I wouldnt know where they can get it in this day and age.

Geologist checking in here. First things first, I just want to say this was a really awesome video. Pokemon Silver is my favorite video game and it’s so cool to hear about the real world places that inspired it. Nice job! I can also help clarify a few things. (1) At 00:00:31 you meant geographically not geologically. (2) The stone markings you start showing around 00:22:25 are most definitely naturally occurring. The dark parts are mafic inclusions (also called mafic enclaves or xenoliths) set in a lighter colored granitic stone block. Basically the darker parts are pieces of older rocks into which a lighter colored and younger granitic rock intruded as a magma. The magma mixed and melted away most of the older dark rock, but the dark pieces here remained cool and relatively intact during the magma mixing. Then it all cooled together underground and was eventually cut into the blocks you see now. A lot of them are so wiggly and flown looking because they were super hot and ductile when they formed and got pushed around and smeared by the magma. It is the energy of the earth!

This video was like an ephipany for me. All these years I knew Gen 2 was always my favourite of all, but outside of blind nostalgia maybe, I could never pinpoint any other real reason outside of the obvious things like "I love the Pokemon designs the best", or "I love the music the best". But here, watching this video, it clicked to me. There's a mysterious, very real magic about Gold Silver and Crystal that has never been created and replicated in any other game in the series. It takes you back to the days of being a kid and wondering about mysteries, and growing up, wondering why, and how the world works etc. The way you described the Ruins of Alph in this video made it all clearer to me that this is why it resonates with me so much. Despite it being a part of my childhood, and my life as a whole, I can now see that the game itself, is part of a greater story, something mysterious, and real, and that's honestly fascinating, and to know I grew up alongside something like this, which in theory has been around for thousands of years, is really quite special, almost as if you too are a part of the mystery. As an aside, I am now curious to see if the only other two areas in the Pokemon world that house Unown, being in the Sevii Islands, and Sinnoh's Solaceon Ruins, have so deep a connection to real life lore - I doubt it, but specifically to the Solaceon Ruins, I'd love to see if anything like this video surfaces in reference to that too. I will forever love you, Gold, Silver and Crystal.

check out "can I beat pokemon FireRed while blind and deaf?". You may THINK you know what the video entails, but it's not that... it's even better. It's a literal masterpiece. edit: it's not a traditional challenge run, it's a TAS that takes in ALL POSSIBLE RNG STATES (!!!) to make a button sequence that can beat pokemon no matter what happens, without ever knowing which of many "parallel universe" game states you are currently in. It accounts for all contingencies except for the dreaded (but very rare) _fast pidgy._

This is the kind of thing that makes Pokémon so much deeper than their surface. Not just deeper, but more inspiring and meaningful. So many of my closest friendships and travel experiences have come about because of Pokémon, and to see the legends of the world inspire each generation again and again brings me to tears. Thank you for going on this journey so that we could see the past and present converge with you!

This is awesome… I really recommend Checking out the works of Graham Hanc0ck, Billy Cars0n, Robert Sch0ck, Giorgio Tsoukal0s etc the mystery gets more and more revealing! about our past, where we came from and what is out there and that there may have been a global advance civilisations that exited before us, in ancient history, and that’s just the beginning of what is being revealed. The fact the Unown are letters is perfect game/art design. You can easily clear one puzzle, and it releases a few. But as soon as you see it you have to ask “Where are the rest of the letters?” and know there are more puzzles you’ll have to solve, keeping you coming back again and again as you gain new improvements to progress further.

For all the shortcomings of the 3DS era, I do feel that Alola got darn close, the atmosphere alone was perfect. Gen 4 also had tons of mythology though admittedly it felt more celestial than terrestrial. The fact that the remakes came out for Gen 4 is honestly a huge deal in how they parallel thematically (and the secret with Arceus and the Shinjo ruins was also PEAK). And I know Sinnoh is based on Hokkaido to some extent or another so I can’t wait to see how true-to-life it is! Also Hoenn has the best natural landscapes. They were my first and I feel like I could camp out on those routes for forever!

What a beautiful video. It brought tears to my eyes... Pokemon means so much to me, as it was my escape from the abuse I had as a child. My grandma adopted me right around this game's release, and to me, it was the end of abuse. I didn't have to fear living in my own house anymore. Pokemon became my escape, and without it, I don't think I would have processed the world as I do now; curious, artistic, and always eager to try new things. I'm almost 40 now, and a lot of that stuff from my past is nothing more than a scar, but Pokemon will always be the one to help me heal. Learning about the tombs and the one-for-one on the map is so awesome. They really went above and beyond... probably because they saw Gold and Silver as the end... so they absolutely had to end it with a bang.

growing up in a place that a pokemon region is based on, for me being alola, you get a completely unique experience of exploring those regions and the details and love put into the games by the creators to show respect to them. i loved being able to connect places in Alola to real places in Hawaii on an almost 1:1 map, reliving childhood adventures and mystery through the lens of little monsters who want to be my friends. I can only dream of that experience for the other pokemon regions, and hope it brings the same joy to others. truly incredible and beautiful video that resonated with me deeply, i really want to visit japan one day to tour different locations that pokemon games were inspired by. your editing and filming enhanced the experience so much and made me tear up by the end. Earlier this year I ran up Crystal with the mission to catch all of the Unown and do the homework myself to decipher all I could in regards to them. In the Unown Pokedex, there are these seemingly random sample words under the picture for each one: Give, Help, Keep, Find, Join, Chase, Engage, Increase, Direct, Bear, Want, Undo, Search, Angry, Vanish, Laugh, Nuzzle, Tell, Observe, Reassure, Zoom, XXXXX, Perform, Quicken, Yield, and Make. No idea what any of it's about but damn was it a blast being a "researcher" in-game and irl like that, I was so excited to get to each point so I could go back to the Ruins and explore them more. The mystery and wildness of life is unspeakable in so many ways, but you did a great job verbalizing it here man.
@sungazercyan8 ай бұрын
You know, thinking about those words in regard to the two warring clans of Asuka as well as the implication that the unown writing comes from the descendants of the kimono girls it makes me think that these are just indicators of human existence 1500 years ago. Words surrounding conflict, joy, work, emotions, everything that just being a human entailed (and still entails, generally). Each of those words could've told a story had we more context. Probably not a very satisfying theory, but real life analogues to things like this often aren't either.

Knowing that Gold/Silver was initially intended as the last pokemon game since GameFreak never thought it would become the monolith pocket monster franchise as it did (+Satoro Iwata coming in clutch with his programming skills, fitting not just Johto but Kanto as well), the people behind Gold and Silver pulled out ALL THE STOPS to make one final hurrah to make the best sequel to a game they could. The Kojiki is considered to be the first written record of Japan's history and was completed some time before 712 AD, or 1300 years ago. Meaning that yes, those stones are in fact older than Japan's known history. They were also mentioned for the first time sometime around 100AD in Chinese written record.
