This video tutorial shows several different ways to achieve the beautiful "bokeh" effect when creating cards or other projects. Bokeh is an effect often found in photography where the background has out of focus elements. You will be able to create stunning backgrounds using this technique. Enjoy!

Beautiful. I love all of these. I believe the baby wipe technique is my favorite because of the softer look. I'll need to be very careful when I try this or I'll have cardstock peeling all over! TFS!

The first technique of removing some of the distress oxide from the circle can be done using photo paper. Really different effect and paper doesn’t peel up when wiping with the baby wipes. Too, because of the vibrant color you do not need to ink on the other colors if you don’t want to.

Beautiful backgrounds how did you get the circles with the sticky on back?

Thank you! I punched out the circles on sticky note sheets that have sticky all over, not just on the top. They worked really well. You can also use the Lavinia Masking sheets but you will need to remove the plastic back sheet before you punch the circles.

Yes you can! I use the regular distress inks almost more than the oxides, so both work just as well.

I don’t know what I am doing wrong unless the fact that I used Neenah card stock instead of Multifarious card is the difference. All the rest is the same. I love the technique that seems very straight forward so I will have to keep trying.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'm happy to try to answer them. I have also done this technique on Strathmore Mixed Media paper. The main thing is that it needs to be smooth and not have texture to the paper.
