I am not sure if I'll be able to see this film in the theatres because it wasn't allowed to be released worldwide due to the sketchy reception it got in art house cinemas. But I do want to see this. I agree with Chris on what he said about actors being directors and the communication between other actors. There are quite a few actors out there that direct and their good at it.

i always tell people what you said, separate the art from the artist like when tom cruise was going crazy i said that should not keep you away from his movies, he is so talented and thats the same thing with mel gibson, great review

I just wish Mel's character's problem with the puppet was resolved with a less violent plot device. The ending was tonally off.

@TyJensenable I am sick of people saying crap about Avatar. The story seems very much like Dances With Wolves but only at first glance as i've watched it more i've appreciated the story more. It has so many sci-fi flourishes that it seems kind of original you just have to look at it in a different perspective. The first 2 hours are kind of slow but there's enough eye candy to keep me moderately entertained sadly that doesn't make it good but the exciting & moving final hour does. Powerful movie
@JimmyneutronwasokayIguess13 жыл бұрын
@TyJensenable well that's your opinion. I just think it's much better then a lot of people are saying. Not a masterpiece or anything but it's still great.

Very excellent review. I've been wanting to see this for the longest time.. It sucks that it's bombing in limited release. How easily the public forgets how talented Gibson is and the classic films he's made for us. Like you said, We all say stupid things when we're mad and drunk but because he was recorded saying that stuff, he's beneath us all. Bullcrap. I like Gibson, I respect him as an actor and director. I want to see this film.

not all movies today are sequels,prequels,remakes & reboots. There are also a lot tv show adaptions,book adaptions,video games adaption & Adam Sandler type-cast movies LOL

The Movie was great in my opinion- 5 out o 5 - I would have preferred a different ending from 1hour 11 minutes onwards but that means 1 hour 11 minutes was just great for me and the last 10 minutes were rushed to fit into cinema timeframes. What it said to me was if your are mentally UNWELL then you better get well quickly...GET WELL QUICKLY as we wont tolerate you being different for long...even if your successful with your difference .... ..fall in line, tow the line, be the same as us or else.....and be like us quickly EVEN if you are harming no one BE LIKE US OR ELSE. This has nothing to do with Mels troubles at the time... it was written years and years before his alleged outburst so has NOTHING to do with it. I wish the ending had the Beaver still present - great insight into family depression and for me the intolerance of those in the family of those that have 'mental illness' or are simply eccentric, different ... the need to get well (be the same) quickly... very Orwellian - we must all be the same, think the same ...

I consider myself a very sane person. I'm just a casual movie watcher. More of a music guy than a film guy. Usually movies have no huge emotional effect on me. I mean, I can always enjoy a great film and be moved by it but I mean "The Beaver" had me in tears... punching my pillow. Yeah... Not even bullshitting. Tears. And pillow pounding. Nothing made sense in my life at that moment in time in my life. And it wasn't even because I was moved in any way shape or form by the story. Not those kind of tears. It wasn't like no fucking Good Will Hunting type tears. Its not like i got something out of it morally. My body just couldn't take the tension I had just witnessed. Fuck Mel Gibson and fuck this movie. Fuck it. A hilariocity review would be pretty on point for this 1.

@DAmicoJohnny speaking of un originality.... There were so many gremlins rip off in the 80s(Ghoolies(1985),Critters(1986),Muchies(1987),Hobgoblins(1987). & each one of then had sequels. Other then Critters getting good reception & Munchies usually being referred to as "average" the gremlins rip-offs were bashed. Hobgoblins is widely considered to be one of the worst movies ever. Imagine how many rip-offs there's be if it was made now.

Separate the art from the artist. And yes, if we were being followed by cameras, we'd be doing more stupid and crazy shit. Stop judging Mel Gibson. He already repented and asked for forgiveness. Who are we to judge the man?
