It's a shame how KZbin hides these videos. True knowledge is power!

Very clean looking chisel! Bone craft is totally under represented in the bushcraft community

Agreed! We love bone work and recognize how essential it was to ancient cultures.

I didn't know that Beaver's front teeth were so long. I knew they were long but I didn't expect them to be 4-6" long.

Ya they really go way back. Surprising how long they are.

I remember one flintknapper who used beaver teeth as a pressure flaker

Awesome tool man. I'd love to come across one of those teeth.

Beaver teeth are orange on the hard outer part because of their iron content, which gives it that hardness
@wildernessstrong61312 жыл бұрын
Good info. And yes they are HARD. We know from trying to cut through them with primitive tools!

I need one of these to finish off a beaver log project where I joined two logs and had to chisel off some excess to make the two pieces aligned. Would love to finish off with beaver teeth marks since all of the exterior has been knawed on. Do you or would you consider selling one of these?

Is there a particular type of pitch that works best for glue?
@wildernessstrong61312 жыл бұрын
Most of our experience comes from Fir and Pine. But recently we've been experimenting with resin from Cherry and it has also worked very well. These trees are the most common varieties for pitch where we live. We have not noticed much difference between the fir and pine through the years as far as durability.

Can you guys make a sewing kit
@wildernessstrong61312 жыл бұрын
Yes! That’s on our list for this year. An important survival skill to have.

Very interesting. Where did you acquire all this knowledge on native Americans? I would really like to see what other tools you can make.
@wildernessstrong61312 жыл бұрын
My Father has spent most of his life studying and teaching about Native American culture. Fortunately some of that has rubbed off on me as well. Much of his education came through books and study, but most came from his own curiosity, survival trips, and experimentation out in the field. Primitive tool making is one of our favorite subjects and there will be many projects in the near future. You might enjoy our videos on Bone work, Slate Knives, Harpoon tips, and torches that we’ve made. Thanks for your comment!
