i can’t believe that beckys dad and her stepmom let nathan bully her so severely. he was 23 telling a anorexic 12 year old that she was fat and ugly. she looked up to him so much too, her first words were his name. it breaks my heart that she went through that and still adored him.

She was scared of him, like I was scared of my brother. You can feel when you're around a psychopath. Especially a sadistic one. I have many emotional scars from having a brother like that. There was never any sexual violence between us. But the physical but especially verbal/psychological abuse still is a problem I struggle with in my 30s if you have a child that shows signs of being cruel to other kids. YOU NEED TO STOP THAT BEHAVIOR RIGHT NOW. TAKE ANTISOCIAL KIDS AND TEENS TO A PROFESSIONAL. Before they cause some other child to kill themselves.

Nathan’s girlfriend LITERALLY told people that she heard Becky go to her room on the Thursday and leave out the front door! There is no way she wasn’t involved, she gave false information about Beckys whereabouts even BEFORE Nathan was questioned for suspicion of kidnapping. So she knew from the very start about the murder, not “the day after the murder occurred” 🤦🏼‍♀️

It took them 3 days to even notice she was gone. The girl described as quiet, shy, who liked to go to bed early and who wouldn't go out without telling someone where she was going? Her family are straight up 100% child neglecting trash. They didn't really give a shit about her. They ignored Nathan's threatening behavior and ignored her fear of him. My brother is 10 years older than me. One evening when I was maybe 14 we've gone to the hill in our town to watch the blood moon. There were also other people, all of them really nice. My brother and his friend did some cool tricks with fire (he did fire spinning at this time). Needless to say it was an fantastic night. We got home at half past two am. We both havent used our phones at all. So when we came home my mother was furious. She was really mad at him for staying out with me this late. And she was afraid of him maybe not watching me enough and some nonsense about me maybe being able to do drugs while he's not looking. He eventually began to cry and just said over and over "I would die for her, I'd die for that child. I won't ever let anything happen to her" I love him so much

@saratibbs9564 2 жыл бұрын
She left her friends house to go home on Thursday. They reported her missing Friday after speaking with all of Beckys friends. Teens especially sleep over at friends houses a lot and they could have very easily thought she was just sleeping over again especially since it’s was a time for Becky/friends similar to the US spring break. When I was a teen I used to sleep over at friends house for multiple nights all the time. The family last saw her Tuesday because that’s when she left to go to her friends house. She was technically missing for 24ish hours. I believe friends are FAR more likely to notice a teens social media silence since they are also on social media more often. All that being said if my daughter who at this point is only 2 years old but no matter her age weather it’s 6, 16,26,76 and I was having a hard time getting ahold of her I would be panicking no matter if it had only been a couple hours. The thing a lot of us true crime watchers often forget is that not everyone is as paranoid about the intentions of this world as we are. Not everyone watches the same shows we watch. Not all of us are constant worriers who always have that fear in the back of our minds. Different parents have different rules and it seems like they really trusted Becky and figured she was likely just hanging out with friends longer than she Originally had planned. Just like some of us are constantly always worrying about something bad happening sooo many people live life on the bad things couldn’t ever happen to me/my loved ones side of life.

My little brother (7 year gap) is my best friend. I’ve always done my best to be an emotional support and help him anyway I can. My older sister and him are 11 years apart. Their relationship was a little more of a struggle for a few years because of clashing personalities/illnesses (little bro showed signs of OCD for awhile, when he was fighting our parents all the time and bullied at school. Meanwhile sis is ADHD and had a tendency to leave messes. They clashed lol.) And yet, even when they struggled to get along, they never would have seriously hurt each other. I cannot imagine the level of hate and lack of care… And if my sis, who I love, ever laid a hand against my little brother that wasn’t 100% deserved or in jest, then I’d lose my shit at her. This case is heartbreaking.

I had a few friends who lost their marbles at me for spending the night with friends I hadn't seen in years, because I didn't ask them if I could. Fr especially knowing that she struggles with anxiety depression and ED, even now when I’m away at uni at 20y/o if either my mum or dad haven’t heard from me once before the next day (basically if it’s gone a whole day to like 2amish with nothing from me that’s definitely unusual and can’t just be put down to catching on on sleep from exhaustion) they get really worried and check with my auntie who lives close to my uni and my boyfriend bc if he hasn’t heard from me either it must be bad lol, they’ll just want a simple don’t worry I’m ok and that’s all, and tbf they probably wouldn’t worry if they weren’t aware how bad my mental state can get with depression and anxiety etc, but they know that even in my worst state I’ll be able to send a text to one of them just saying I’m not good but I’m safe yk? Like having that system in place is so helpful for all of us and I can’t imagine not checking in on your child who you /know/ struggles with her mental health and is also a ‘young petite girl’, unfortunately a very common target for disgusting creatures so she’s very much at risk????

I absolutely don't want to blame Becky's father, as he's clearly wracked with guilt as it is, but I definitely think Nathan should have been removed from the family home a long time before. He was a teenager bullying a child, and bringing home underage girls; cops needed to be brought in. Real consequences for bad things helps teach kids that they can't get away with shit. I also think Shauna 100% helped him, and was likely groomed from a young age.

A sad situation but yeah I agree, absolutely more could have been done to prevent this, the warning signs were there from an extremely young age and nothing seemed to be done. But it's still so sad to see her father completely broken, he probably has so much regret. I also agree with you about Shauna, there's no way she had the same way of thinking as he did when they met at 14, he absolutely emotionally abused, manipulated and ultimately brainwashed her. Still doesn't make her innocent, she had to pay for her crimes, but I think it still leads to the fact Nathan was the true monster.

I usually don’t blame parents in this type of cases unless they’re involved directly (obvs) and it seems pretty obvious that Nathan was clearly a psychopath, so it’s not all their fault. But bad parenting did sadly played a part in this one. Nathan shouldn’t be living in the same house Becky was, as he was bullying her and they knew. He shouldn’t have been allowed to bring 12 yo home when he was 19, the cops should have been called just for that. I am a parent to 3 daughters & a survivor of childhood sexual abuse too. I totally agree that children should ALWAYS be listened to & above all, believed if they ever disclose any type of abuse, especially from a family member or close friend. Family members & close friends get away with so much abuse of children because the adults know exactly how to scare/groom the child!! Although I felt sorry for the dad, I can’t help but feel he must have saw & heard so many things that could have been dealt with at various points over the years. Maybe if Nathan was dealt with appropriately while growing up, Becky would have felt safe & secure enough to be able to disclose to her parents whenever anything untoward went on between her & Nathan? (In an ideal world)! As much as I’d like to think Nathan’s mother & step dad could have helped him grow up to be a decent member of a civilised society & not be a complete nasty evil sadistic lowest of the lowest thing, unfortunately, I think that’s exactly how he was always going to turn out!!! Which only brings me back to thinking, that there must have been so many red flags that were ignored for whatever reason. Although, there is NO reason for ignoring warning signs when it comes to the safety of your children… This is where I stop feeling sorry for the dad, because he blatantly IGNORED the warning signs! PERIOD!!

Like how they didn’t look into her being afraid of her brother, they allowed him to be a predator and groom underage girls without intervening, the horrific bulking he would subject her to. @emdove
@emdove 4 жыл бұрын
Because bullying isn’t about the appearance, it’s the reaction to being mocked for something like their appearance that the bullies aim for. You can be the most beautiful person on earth, but terribly affected by comments on your physique, and if some bully notices, you’re done for. On the other hand, someone not conventionally beautiful can have such a strong and self-confident personality that they don’t provide any interesting/satisfying reaction when mocked.

People always tell me I'm gorgeous but I was bullied badly, especially in grade school. Highschool it happened but not as much as when I was younger. People don't need to have a reason to bully you. They prob didn't bully her about her looks, well her weight I just heard they did say things about that... Also people bully people they are jealous of as well. My mother is a very very very beautiful woman, she always has been and she said she would be hated on so much by the other girls that she would wish she was ugly so she could have friends. Girls are so vicious, it's really fckn sad!!

On the flipside of this reaction I'll tell you another side of it: I was bullied by my brother as well and no matter how many times my mother told him to leave me alone he didn't. Mum told ma later she just didn't know what to do anymore and how to help me. He didn't always do it in front of my mother either, so she didn't know about half of it. Honestly, idk, you'd expect parents to protect their children all the time but they can be terrorised by their other children as well or just be clueless.

There was so many signs that Nathan wasn’t right in the head. Preying on underaged girls, wanting to kill his step sister and talking to his gf about kidnapping girls and using them as sex slaves. Those are such abusive and toxic traits to have and stand out a mile in/to most people. He is honestly one of the lowest types of people. I feel so bad for Becky. Imagine being basically abused and then murdered by your step brother, someone meant to love and protect you 😔
@traceyjoy7554

Amy Mythen yup..The parents failed Becky. Perhaps Nathan as well. They knew it's abnormal to bully your anorexic sister that is making her self ill & could possibly die of it. Who in their normal mind does that??They failed not only to protect her but to get Nathan the mental help he needed. Because had he been seen & diagnosed this may have not happened. Had he been talking to a professional they may have been alerted about Nathan's extreme hatred for his little step sister. Perhaps Shauna wouldn't have become his first victim turned partner in crime. Becky could have been sent to live with her bio mom. Growing up poor is hard. But at least she would be safe & would live. I don't like how the dad and stepmom turned the other cheek. They loved Becky so much you can tell but they were neglecting to reign in thier household.
