Watching for the memories. I watched most of this series back in the '90s. I've also met Michael at a home brew competition after an extensive judging of beer he was involved in. He could put away the brews to say the least.

This was broadcast on PBS in 1989. I stood behind MJ as he signed books at the Brooklyn beer fest in 1994. He and Madame Rose surely could put away the beer 🍺 😂

So cool that you can still visit the cafe in Brugge he started at and drink almost all the beers he featured in this back in ‘89

I remember reading one of his books years and years ago and dreaming of one day trying the rare beers he describes. Now, it's easier than ever to find them (So long as you can sift thru all the filler). Now i just need to find my MJ Book!! Such a shame that Belgium beers are so expensive. I particularly like St. Bernadus 12, Rochefort 10, and Duchesse De Bourgogne.

It's interesting that the first written recipe of Lambic was in 1516, the same year as the Reinheitsgebot of Germany.

so basically with the lambic they used to be drrinkin that shit but now it's all hawty-tawdy, Michael Jackson was a poetic, passionate man. I love the part about the wild yeast.

It was never shit and isnt now. Every part of our culture derives from archaic traditions
@XxowendanxX3 ай бұрын
@callanerd3104 I believe his point is that back in Bruegel's day, lambic was a party beverage. They would dance, drink, and pour it like sangria. Fast forward 500 years and it's a rarity and accorded the status of wine. Also sometimes Americans use the word "shit" in a way that does not imply poor quality. It means "stuff". There is an American term to describe something of quality as "good shit".
