For the most part, the guides to the Underworld I did were 2E. I used the manuscript, 1E and Book of the Dead. I WILL be going into it even more soon, though.

It was kind of a thing back then, what was done with the Underworld in 1e, WW was on a kick of "keep player characters in the physical world". Even with 1e Werewolf, and Changeling, going off world was a "well you can but let's not cover it much" thing.

I just got the PDF for Geist: 2nd Edition Core-Rulebook in prep for a Geist campaign I joined called Ghosts of New Orleans. And my archetype is going to be Vengeful since that's the closest to the Reaper Archetype from Geist: 1st Edition.

I found the channel a week ago as I was looking for which games I wanted to get back into. Oddly enough, I just received my copy of Geist (from the Kickstarter) two days ago. I had completely forgotten that I even backed it (July 2018 seems like forever ago). Thanks for this, as well as the other shows you've done. Looking forward to future coverage. For what it's worth, the lack of visuals doesn't bother me much, as I often listen while working around the property or commuting to work. Any plans to do a live play?

What are the rules for soul loss in Chronicles of Darkness? If your characters soul goes on to the afterlife then there should only be one mind in the body and that being the geist. Maybe the two souls are partially fused or maybe the geist eats your characters soul.

Great input; however, the Geist becomes your soul, and you could think of talking to it in a way like speaking to your own conscience, like a fused-together Jimminy Cricket. But it's a dead, greedy thing.

Nah, souls in CofD are weird You can get the Soulless condition and be mostly fine, resolve it by obtaining *a* soul (not even your own, just any then back to normal mostly) Almost every splat is kinda lacking a soul. They're special, but not personal (maybe, ST fiat)

Would love to play as myself with my Geist being a Forest Elemental spirit rather than a plane Human one. Is that at all possible?

.... you uh... kinda answered yourself there when you said spirit. Ghosts and Spirits with a capital S are different entities that come from different planes of existence to the twilight. (Although if memory serves 1st edition called Geist hybrid of the two in theory). But Geists at base are Ghosts. If you want a Spirit or Elemental try werewolf the forsaken as a totem spirit or changeling

Gonna be honest, I don't like second editions decisions to make the Sin-Eaters a "full dead, the soul moved on" kind of thing. It feels like a why bother situation, like you might as well just play an actual ghost instead. Your actions will matter just as much. That's not saying that ghost AREN'T important or can't matter. Just that they fill the "fully dead and bound to the human realm" niche much better then a being that is basically a zombie with a ghost for a soul. On a writing level I just generally don't like how loose CofD plays with the soul. The soul should be an archetypically hard to tamper with and replace part of a person, like the heart is to the body. It's an important thing in every piece of media that use it, it's irreplaceable and is supposed to be so innately personal that replacing it brings questions of weather or not "you are you?" after it's replaced. In CofD Souls are as plug and play as a Logitech device and it's VERY unsatisfying. It's to the point for me that I've thought of homebrewing a "soul rejection" mechanic for incorrect souls to bodies, and retconning the lore around souls to make then actually worth more then just "Is a powerful snack for evil people". Anyway, good video as always botch.

Yes he would be with his Geist being either Whisper, or Jibinyan, and given that Nate's main mission is to battle evil Yokai in order to protect innocent humans from their villainous ways he would be of the Vengeful Archetype with his Krewe being of the Furies Archetype.

Do people really find the keys and manifestations from 1st that complicated? I found them pretty straightforward and very rewarding of creativity. Honestly their transformation into Haunts was one of most disappointing facts about 2nd edition to me.

For first edition? It was less about complication and way more about the mechanic being poorly explained. If you spent a ton of time burning it into your head, you'd get it. However, you really shouldn't have to put that much effort into any one mechanic. 2E is far more organized in the instruction.

@@TheBotchPit That is something we can agree on. The new mechanic is far more straightforward and easy to explain. And the old mechanics explanation left much to be desired. And I still believe the old mechanic was a great mechanic that was free and rewarding of creativity. Though I believe my biggest complaint about the new system is how different it is from the old system. It was just kind of like you were expecting a piece of apple pie but you take a bite and it's a pear pie it's still good and it's still pie but it's not what you expected. And I know I should get over it cuz it's still pie and it's still good but dang it I wanted apple pie.

Need to slow down your read a little. Your character lines aren't always distinct from the narration leading up to it. The guide is a good intro, but you're posting a video with no visual representations. Put some page shots in there.

@@TheBotchPit Oh, cool. To wit though, on the topic of copyright. It really depends on how you use it. A few screen grabs of relevant pages used in an overview is covered under fair use. Credit artists, make it clear that it's not your art. A good rule of thumb is, if they use art for promotion of the game, it's intended for public consumption. That's why movie reviewers often loop the trailer. i.e. If they made it publicly available, it's fair game. OPP isn't aggressive about CRP. They understand community engagement is important.
