Archmasters, at least in 1e, had additional Practices. 6th dot was the Practice of Dynamics. This allowed Seekers to cast spells that actually change properties in the course of being active. For instance, creating a magical intelligent computer virus that evolves to allude detection. 7th dot granted the Practice of Entities. This allowed archmasters to change the fundamental nature of things/beings, in a deep way that would let them pass down that trait. Alter a vampire to have a new Clan Discipline with Death or give someone the ability to teleport with Space. (Creating a new Lesser Template or Proximi clan) You also get the Practice of Excision, which is the opposite. You take away characteristics, like removing a True Fae's title with Fate or removing the aging process with Life. 8th dot added the Practice of Dominions. It allows archmages to create Chantries, little worlds of their own branching off from their Golden Road (their new soul which is also their Path). They can create sub-souls for inhabitants of these worlds too. Finally, they can make sub-soul avatars for themselves in the manner of the Exarchs. These are called Ochemata. 9th dot has one practice and only one spell, both called Transfiguration. The archmaster becomes the Arcanum, and vice versa. The Seeker can do anything they want within the purview of the Arcanum and duration of the spell. This is similar in power to the Incarna gods of the Shadow or the most potent Kerberoi of the Underworld. No 10th dot is detailed, but it is heavily implied that attaining this skill would allow for Ascension permanently into the Supernal Realms, joining the Exarchs and Oracles.

I just started the second edition of mage last week and it is easier to understand! Also, our storyteller is doing a god machine chronicle which all of the players agreed but it is based two thousand years in the future the world has been invaded and most of the mage orders don't exist anymore. In other words, magic is pure imagination. I mean mages can learn or have rotes but mostly just figuring it out on our own. Also, it is kinda like a post-apocalyptic game. Honestly, I made my mage a crafter of things I mean a lot of things. Having matter and prime help a lot with it.

*adjusts glasses* Uh, you can't make a soul with a Master of Arcana. All attempts to do so have failed. You'd at least need Mastery of the 5 Subtle Arcana. :D Great video, will probably use it as a reference in the future when folks ask about them and don't have the book to read from.

At Gnosis 7, with the old table, you are capable of becoming a 5-fold master. Also, I think a soul could be created with a Practice of Entities spell with the Death Arcanum. At least, I would allow it as a GM.

@@TacticusPrime What can be allowed at an individual table is totally a factor of the game itself, I'm merely commenting on the RAW. You can actually become a 5th Degree Master at a Gnosis of 6. The inability to make a soul is actually referenced on p. 98 of the core book.

All this talk of how mages can tap into the sources of power for other supernatural beings is making me wish for a chronicles of darkness timeline. Like was the Lie created before or after Father Wolf was killed by his children? Was there any fighting between the Exarchs and the True Fae? That kind of stuff. It will never happen, but I can dream.

As much as I kinda want that, it really shouldn't exist since the whole approach they went with in Chronicles is that you make all that up for your own personal version of the setting, kinda like D&D.

Actually there is an an answer! In the Dark Eras book, the Fall occurs before the death of Father Wolf. There's a setting that occurs between the two events! They detail pangea and the word without the gauntlet.
