I found this collection amongst some other random photos and video (many of which I cannot share on KZbin)
The interviews here shown are to me incredible and well focused on both those that suffered and those trying to stop the suffering.
Making this into a video was in my mind a challenge but once I started to create, it simply flowed.
I have found myself playing it back now and again wondering if I did it justice.
I thought over time the comments section would let me know but that is yet to happen several weeks after upload...
I hope I did those within it justice... May they all rest in eternal peace...

This film shows the Northern people as they truly were and are! The young lady speaks like we are in the South. I hope she had a happy life as them all. Faulker, Paisley, the B specials and a few fire brands. The few extremists at the top caused this breeding hate. If only when the British army came they and brought in direct rule.! Stopping Faulker and Paisley using the army for their own political army.

This couple appear very nice but im sorry to say they had no idea what was going on ! British govn was behind most acts of terror Catholics were denied their human rights under the British govn all catholics wanted a united Ireland but were met with hostility from RUC whose loyaltys lay to Paisley and British they were no better than Black and tans Special Branch acted under cover and imo created chaos !!

If only we had more people like that man speaking at 22.02 then we'd have a better society. We had people like that on both sides within the working class communities but their class based politics were drowned out by the sectarian elements.

Bringing back to me that twisting fear nerve in my stomach as we had to evacuate from our home. Seeing that footage of burnt out homes and poor people searching for hope for the future. Awful sad. Colonisation has a lot to answer for, it divides by religion or race - it doesn't care about people only greed and needs totally dismantled.

Great point ! If you read the history of the English monarchy it is nothing but a litany of power grabs, land grabs, sexual concubines and if you had to murder your nearest relatives to gain it, so be it. The English higher archy are the most loathsome set of humans in history . They gave us Northern Ireland, Israel, India v Pakistan, the slave trade etc. Greed is their mantra.

We lived in a gable end house on kashmir rd, once in 71-72 a film crew filmed the family rising for breakfast getting ready for school etc while being interviewed, they filmed my two sisters walking away up the road to school. Afterwards they filmed my mother walking to the butchers where apparently they insisted on paying for the purchased meat. Mam always suspected they were swedish but my sister said she thought they were Americans. What i would give to see that footage, i have a forlorn hope it may pop up on here one day.

These people had great foresight. They could see what was coming. The terrible thing is thousands died and the City is more divided.Walls and Walls. Catholics were second class citizens and Paisley had plenty of blood on his hands for encouraging mob rule. Fast forward to today and both sides would say the same thing. What a great program. Thanks for sharing.🇮🇪

@@ATroubledLand It really would be some scoop to find it as we all left Belfast for good in late 72, it broke my mothers heart leaving shes never recovered, it would be very special if it was able to be located. It was 40 Kashmir Rd, surname Angus, family of 3 boys 2 girls, 14 the eldest, i'll be the one in the pushchair. We were selected as a suitable family to appear in the film, as my 87 yr old mother said earlier, by the boys who stood out on the corner, when i pressed her who exactly, she said, with her back slightly stiffening and the aversion of my gaze, 'just the boys on the barricades, we don't talk about things like that', it made me chuckle. So it features the family getting up for school, then my mother walks to the butchers on springfield rd, before going to mass in the Clonard Monastry with myself. Cameras never went into mass but were there afterwards to go back to 40 Kashmir when i think my father makes a brief appearance back from work for his lunch. My father was an ex English soldier, who from the early fifties lived and brought up his family in west belfast, ie Ballymurphy before moving into my grandma's family home on Kashmir rd, and he was so very much a trusted part of the community. No one knows if this film was ever shown anywhere. We are pretty sure It was done before the august internment but defo after March, narrowing it down to those months, we think, memory can be a fallible device. I cant think of much else that could help you identify the film? but i truly hope it exists it would be marvellous to see it. We can hope. Thanks. C.

@JimboBond71 It might be 'A Sense of Loss' (1972) which is available elsewhere on KZbin. I'm probably wrong but it may be worth a try.

Protestants from the inception in this man-made state need to realise what hey done to innocent Catholics. No wonder it exploded, people can only be cornered for so long, then the dog bites back.. Looks to me the dog is going to win. Never get bitten by a dog.

Don't forget ! every single generation of Irish people will look at what the British state is responsible for in ulster 🇮🇪 ! And learn from the mistakes of the Irish government and the ( PIRA) campaign 1960 to 1997 in fairness the lads had good go at it ! As for Michael Collins who gave him the right to sell our own people down river ! The next generation of Irish people needs to learn from our past and to learn you never sell out your own people or country ! No matter what the costs my be ! No Irish person should be left behind and that includes all people who were born in Ireland.

Interesting document. Fake news is not a modern thing of course rather quite an old way of dividing people. I feel there's no enough emphasis on how things were, the level of discrimination towards Catholics... I mean, the way they keep asking the same question : why can't they live together? But apart from one example half way through you'd really think the fight is over religion rather than equal rights 😉
