Right, 2008 was the beginning of the end. Now they've created a LARGER bubble. Social insurance liabilities and Boomer retirement triggering a USG default is looming. Layoff news starting to roll in in auto, accenture, tesla, spacex, GE.. SpaceX caught me off guard as they're the low cost solution to satellite launch and I don't think the media is covering this much. But the writing is on the wall. We got pretty good volume on the Bonds to the upside. The safe play may be DJIA and the bonds for some time now.

It's not the beginning of the end, the 'end' will be drawn out for years in the form of astronomical new QE programmes and a legislated/controlled digital currency. I imagine there will be some manufactured global 'crisis' over the next few years, and conveniently it will occur simultaneously across the US (Fed) EU (ECB) and Japan(BoJ). The 'crisis' will be averted by the conversion to the digital currency, and wipeout of the banking system, where only the major players still exist.

How does the Fed reduce its balance sheet? Isn't the balance sheet bonds that have been purchased and are paying, or will eventually pay, dividends? Don't the bond holders have to be paid? Or are these bonds the Fed "bought" itself and they just disappear into thin air?
@__OL__
@__OL__ 5 жыл бұрын
The Fed printed money and bought the bonds. To reduce its balance sheet, it would need to sell them to legitimate buyers and thereby withdraw those printed dollars from the market.

So the Fed is holding its own bonds, (The Treasury prints money, btw, not the Fed), and finds buyers for them, thus "reducing its balance sheet". Who is buying the bonds? China, Russia, India? Or did they set up more front organizations to "buy them"?
@__OL__
@__OL__ 5 жыл бұрын
@@johnnyfreedom9586 There is a list that gets published as to which nations are buying. I haven't been following the markets very closely the past year or two, but prior to that, I remember there was suddenly heavy buying from Belgium that some claimed was ridiculous, although others claimed it could be money funneled from China (or something to that effect). P.S. It's not really correct that the Fed is holding its own bonds, as it is the Treasury that issues them (hence, the name Treasury Bonds). And yes, the Treasury prints physical dollars, but I'm referring to typing digits on a screen, not literal printing, that the Fed did.

@@johnnyfreedom9586 He means 'printed money' in the loose sense, as in QE.... the transaction is of course done digitally, which is done by the Fed. I often wonder if financial commentators even recognise this, I used to think 'printing money' was a shorthand for QE, but I've noticed many people use the term as if to suggest someone is actually printing physical money to increase the money supply.

It will be interesting to see if all of these things that have come into existence in the last 20 years and especially the last 10 years are really viable in a normal economy. For example, is Tesla viable in a normal interest rate environment at 4 years at normal interest rates? Is Twitter viable? Even Amazon seems vulnerable in a future with far fewer credit cards at higher rates. Of everything that came into existence since 9/11, I really hope social media is not viable. It is making an already bad situation worse.

It's all very well for the government not to backstop losses for investors who voluntarily risked their savings in the stock markets, bond/gilt markets or risky banks. It's quite another matter for government to involuntarily collect social insurance premiums from the public and fail to honor the commitment when the payment comes due. The public sector or the private sector may consider social insurance (or unemployment insurance) for future subscribers to be of a voluntary nature with any risks clearly spelled out. A similar situation arises in public and private defined benefit pension plans. The private sector has been moving to defined contribution plans for quite some time, now.

Why do you think he started a gold business? Because he thinks gold is a bad investment? Of course not. He obviously started the business because he believes in it. Second, his income out of schiff gold is not even 10% of his total income. Most of it comes from his capital management business.

Jack Lonergan Not all gaps are filled. $255 gold! Are you for real? There wouldn’t be a miner left in existence which would be great but not going to happen.
