What is clink-stone’s composition?
@tbutcherfpv810 Жыл бұрын
@@KimBTownThe rocks themselves are composed of diabase, the same type of rock that makes up most of the earth's crust. Another part of the mystery is while all the rocks seem to be made of the same material (mostly iron and hard minerals) only one-third of them generate the ringing sound when hit. Rocks that ring are known as "live" rocks, and those that don't are referred to as "dead" rocks.
@PsychotropicThunder Жыл бұрын
@@tbutcherfpv810 you dont think it might possibly be because of the echo chamber created by the space below the stone? While the “dead” rocks dont have any room for sound to reverberate. The chamber is where the sound resonates and changes to that higher sounding frequency. Not very hard to figure out. The precise placement of the stone allows it to create that particular sound while the normal rocks sound… well… normal.

From Forbes magazine Mar 2014 concerning Ringing Rocks at Stonehenge in England: "Research within the past decade has pinpointed the origin of the Stonehenge bluestones to a quarry not far from Maenclochog. The RCA team, whose results are reported in Time and Mind: The Journal of Archaeology, Consciousness and Culture, has examined thousands of bluestones around the area over the past eight years, finding that a high percentage rang. “It was a noteworthy soundscape,” said Devereux, “With a significant percentage of the actual rocks making metallic sounds like bells, gongs, tin drums, etc, when tapped with small, handheld ‘hammerstones’.”
