I bought this album one day purely based on the album artwork alone. I was bored, I had some money, I wanted some new music that day. Had heard of the band but never any song. Well maybe Creep, but I sort of let it drift over me .Took it home, loaded the cd and pressed play. I then proceeded to have my head fucking blown off. I simply could not believe what I was hearing. It sounded like music from the future. Suffice to say I became an instant fan. And then when Ok came out I managed to get hold of a japanese import becasue I couldn't wait for the UK release any longer...and as fans we know the rest. A life changing experience stumbling across this band. I await all their releases with eager anticipation. One of all time favourite groups. Up there with the very, very best. If not the best rock group of all time for me. And all because I liked the cover and took a punt. Go figure.

There's something interesting to say about the recording of each of these tracks. Here we go FACTS: 1. Planet Telex: Thom was very drunk and lying on the floor while recording the vocals on this track. And listen again and it will stand out. 2. The Bends: The sounds at the beginning were an instructor commanding a group of kids loudly. When Thom heard it he grabbed something to record it with (Likely a four-track recorder) Other than that, the track is two different takes spliced together. The split happens when it gets to the "lying on the floor with a drip-feed on". 3.High and Dry: The tracks that made it onto the album were originally a demo recording around the Pablo Honey time. Then tracks were recorded added later. 4: Fake Plastic Trees: The band did the vocal take after seeing Jeff Buckley in concert, that same night, and when Thom heard the vocal he was moved to tears. 5: Bones: Sorry I don't have any for this one. 6: Nice Dream: The band each played acoustic guitars on this one. I believe it was outside on a patio, but nonetheless, the layered acoustic track's sound came from having so many guitars. That's it for now, ill do the rest in part 2.

A double-edged sword, yes! One could even call it their "Iron Lung". ;)

In May we had a Top overdose, and now a Radiohead overdose, two of my favourites bands, thank you Bradley

Most of the band kinda hated "Creep" and didn't play it on any concert for over a decade.... at least until 2016, where Thom played it and blew all their fans' minds (even Johnny was astonished that Yorke begun playing it). Ps. "Blow Out" (the last song on Pablo Honey) is fucking amazing, mate; you can't deny that.

I think the bends is criminally underrated as radiohead albums go, I'd put it as second only to ok computer

I listened to this album constantly in 95/96 and it will always remind me of taking the train from Toronto to Québec and then the bus from Québec north to Saguenay - a 15 hour voyage that I made about 5 times that year. This album helped me endure it.

Unpopular opinion: the bends is the 2nd best radiohead album Also, this video is amazing. The editing is so good, and your reactions were great. I forgot how much I loved seeing Brad actually enjoy an album.

3rd for me but yeah I feel you. I just dont prefer the more grunge-y tracks scattered throughout but the highs of the album are ridiculous.

The Bends is so underrated, Planet Telex, My Iron Lung and Bullet Proof I Wish I Was are amazing

I'm that kid in the 90s who remembers purchasing this album and being blown away by it. I DID really help that I didn't own Pablo Honey, so wasn't expecting Radiohead to be anything apart from "that band who sings Creep."

The Bends is almost a perfect album... They had two other awesome tracks recorded around the time that could have replaced "Bones" and "Sulk". They are called "Talk Show Host" and "Banana Co." you should check them out in part 2 as bonus tracks.

Banana Co. Is honestly one of the best songs from their b-sides, I'm happy someone actually notices it now!
