Dutch is my first language, my second is English, I also speak a little bit of French (learning in school) and a tiny bit of Spanish, I'm 15 and a lot of online friends I have that live in America are impressed when I tell them this, while in Europe it's super normal to speak more then 2 or 3 languages

Apart from the UK, yes. Considering the majority of native English speakers I know are monolingual, while the majority of bilinguals I know just speak their native language plus English. The USA is the only country in America where it’s impressive to speak two languages.

I'm fascinated by the idea that being bilingual can enhance problem-solving skills. It makes perfect sense when you think about the mental flexibility required to switch between languages.

I speak 3 languages and noticed my ability to construct speech.I had a hunch that bilingualism influenced it.Although,I still need to master my English,I can fluently switch between Ukrainian, russian and English. Also someone mentioned interesting assumption down below, that every language affects our personality.I contemplated abt it ,and now I see that too,bc there’s a perceived difference in ur emotions using particular language

You'll learn to master any language if you're around someone that speaks it fluently. We''re Af. American but my aunt was born in Japan. She started speaking Japanese by the age of 2 since she was always around her babysitter.

I found this video to be quite informative and fascinating.I was bemused by the enormous amount of advantages of being fluent in two languages. Being bilingual can open up so many opportunities and help to move up a social ladder. In our globalist world , language plays a prominent role in sharing information with people from all over the World, and the more languages you know more intertaiment, knowledge and interesting people you get. Personally, I "know" three languages and it is not a big deal for me to swap between them swiftly. I am also big fan of sprinkling into conversation various brief phrases from different languages, even from those I dont know. So in a nutshell being bilingual can stand you in good stead

Meine Muttersprache ist Portugiesisch... I think Englisch ist ein a must for anyone to know... ich lese auf Deutsch und Französisch...I always wanted to read books that were not in my language. When you learn a second language, the third and fourth get easier.

I totally agree with all assertions what have been said in video. Bilingualism plays a prominent role in brain development. I know three languages, but can switch between two of them quite swiftly. For instance, I can rapidly switch from English to Russian, and vice versa. Unfortunately, it's not always a piece of cake for me. In terms of some situations I need a little time to concentrate (for example, from Ukrainian to English)
