That was a REALLY useful video. I'm in the process of venturing into DCC and have exactly the same issue that I don't want to replace my peco point so I now need to take the leap and start wiring up my points and control panels. I must admit most of my points are insulfrogs so may be a bit easier to wire. Many thanks

That livery is Satlink. It was a special commission by Model Rail magazine a few years ago.

You can also use their ADS-8FX decoders; I have these on mine driving several Fulgurex slow motion point motors which work well and take their power from my Hornby HM2000 16v accessory power feed dropped down in voltage.

You can use the macro function on the NCE Powercab to fire multiple points to set routes, you can also connect these accessory decoders to JMRI so you can change points and set routes via a layout diagram on a laptop or tablet.

Great vid and I’m glad your one of the dcc concepts team helping my dream layout coming to fruition on my Utoob channel. Question in the display picture to this video there is a rake of 3 blue coaches. What coaches are these. I know there were some all blue coaches on the uk network and apart from blue belle I can’t find them but you have them please do share. Cheers.

I am using these CDU modules from the ADS 2 to the 8sx. There are 60 channels in all controlled through a Hornby Railmaster and eLink with a 4amp supply. My track is analogue controlled. I found the inrush at switch on was causing the power supply to fold back requiring a second switch on once the capacitors had charged. (They are big capacitors!) I solved the problem by splitting the DCC bus in two and adding a delay on timer relay to switch on the second half two seconds later. Watch out for this as you add more ADS modules.

Hi Jenny, I have been using these on my layout updates and new fiddle yard as I have started using live fogs. Sadly I have had one channel fail on the ADS-8sx and an ADS-2sx has now completely given up the ghost. I have been in touch with DCC concepts about it.

Sorry to hear that. Their after sales support is very good so hopefully you will get that all resolved.

Yes, no problem. 3 wires are 3 wires, after all. 😉

I approve of digital control. Also, I always recommend braiding all wire runs.

Hi Jenny, an interesting video. The DCC Concepts ADS-8sx unit looks a very useful unit. You mentioned it had a DCC bus pass though, does it mention the maximum current that can handle? Are you aware that you can route set if your points are DCC controlled which saves having to select each point. Regards, David. PS I enjoy the Monday club and generally just listen while building or repairing items.
