I really agree with your comment of debits and credits being the foundation of all business decisions. So many times, even in my advisory practice, I think of the deal in terms of the journal entry. The process of spelling it out that way gives you a framework to think about economic substance that you would not have if you just read the contracts and advised from that level. Great insights Bryan, love your Channel and what you're doing here.

That is right! I would like to add that a lot of managers in industry are aware of an auditor's extensive skills, but one thing they look for is ERP system knowledge for the people being interviewed.

When do you think it's too late (or your too old😅) to start a career in audit? I have some tax season (busy season) background and mainly stayed home with kiddos so that worked out great for me, but I'm now ready to dive into career full-time, and audit has always interested me. For reference, I'd work for mid-size public accounting firms, probably not Big 4, as a I know they typically don't look at older candidates.

One benefit of starting in tax is it sets you up more for being able to work for yourself if desired. Starting up a tax practice is way easier than starting an attestation firm
