Hi, the steam tram is used for special charter excursions. Bern is one of the most attractive towns in Europe, I love it.

I like the scenery and the steam tram is cute. But if I'd been there with the steam tram pulling up so close, I'd have been tempted to call out a quip like "Be careful. We do love you, but not enough to let you go up our rear!" ;) And speaking of that coupling in the front, it reminds me of something... from the BBC, no less. EX-TER-MIN-ATE! EX-TER-MIN-ATE! :D

Hi I'm glad you enjoyed the scenery, I looked for a shot showing the steam tram coupling, it does look like that thing on a Daleks head from the 'Doctor Who' series.😊

OMG! The steam tram at 13:30+ has dirty brown smoke in the air! I see, the engine was poorly adjusted for low speed... Ban from green movement! (ha-ha-ha)

How they run both electric trams and trolley buses same line by overhead wire(s)? Btw: I would prefer 'busses'.
@Timsvideochannel19 жыл бұрын
+pega17pl Hi, I wasn't sure about the spelling for busses (buses) when I checked both spellings were OK, but buses is the more popular spelling. I noticed the wires were used by both trams and trolley buses, but I have a theory .... one wire is higher than the other, the lower wire being live, the trams pantograph only touches the lower wire with the rails being used for the return, whereas the trolley bus pick-up poles are independent of each other so a difference in wire height will not stop both poles picking up,so the higher wire is used as a return for the trolley buses. For this to work trolley buses and trams must use the same voltage. That's my theory, but I could be wrong and something else would need to happen at junctions .... here are some links offering other explanations ..... railforthevalley.wordpress.com/2010/05/11/when-trolleybus-and-streetcar-cross-paths/ ..... www.rhaworth.myby.co.uk/trtr/tramtrol.htm

+Timsvideochannel1 Your explanation works only tram and trolley bus has same voltage. Best drawing explanation independent of voltages and of AC or DC is sample Bern at second link. Different colors demonstrates how interrupted wire (tram) lower than through wires (trolly bus) works. Pantograph of tram slips over both interruptions while trolley bus pantographs still work if there were no wire junction. But there are other solutions at first link, too. To me strangest one is Italian jumction. I can't imagine how tram pantograph should cross trolley bus wires without damage. But I'm not Italian.
