I was just wondering how the Speed Pro would compare against the Gravity Tour (BOTH GRAPHENE 360+ VERSIONS). They are almost identical in specs except for the beam is 1mm thinner on the Gravity Tour and the weight is a little lower, as is the swingweight. The power map shows them both to be about the same. They both have a nice low 60s RA rating and they both have a 18x20 string pattern. What differences should I expect from these frames ??
@RacketsRunnersVancouver Жыл бұрын
This is a very good question, and something I consider myself a bit of an expert in. The spark notes: the speed pro has more spin and power but less control, consistency, and user friendliness.

This guy gives the best in-depth reviews! Love the terminology as well. I just demoed the Gravity Pro, and am a huge fan of the feel.. stable, control oriented, and surprising spin. The way you describe the “sticky” feel makes perfect sense!

Interesting, I actually found Auxetic Speed Pro to have significantly lower launch angle than GPro. GPro responses much better to lifting and shaping the ball. That said, notice my Speed is buffed to GPro SW, and both tail-weighted to be 32cm of balance, 340g static fully furnished
@RacketsRunnersVancouver Жыл бұрын
Interesting what you say about lifting/shaping the ball. I wonder if this has something to do with the fact the pocketing is much more well defined so you feel more control over that lifting motion while it sits in the stringbed. I have to say I think purely from a technical point of view, the Speed is more spin friendly.
@Anton.Arkhipov Жыл бұрын
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver I actually measured their stringbeds, and they are almost identical in terms of density in the middle. Like 0.5mm difference if you take 8-10 middle mains and crosses. GPro has that “middle” closer to the tip, and is obviously a tad wider. Those longer crosses in the middle bring better liveliness (and spin window is wider) for Gravity. I actually did compare them side-by-side. Speed does spin the ball well enough, but by whatever reason doesn’t want to lift it unless I open the stringbed. But this hurts the spin instantly, and I just have to hit low over the net, or balls start sailing, or I need to artificially over spin them. With gravity, the shape is just more natural and easy for me, more net clearance and curve on “default” drives. I have some guys agreeing with me with this assessment. And overall Gravity seems just great for me. Yesterday hit some kicks which bounced hugely 🔥
@NdRe_zA14 күн бұрын
Very good explanation, I feel exactly the same with the speed. The amount of spin is good and absolutely sufficient, but the curve of the ball often remains low. Same with the Ezone 98, but it is better in handling and the ball curve can be influenced a lot easier. If only the GPro had a little less swing weight...

Good morning, I have a question. Some say that stiffness determines whether one racket is more powerful than another, but others say that it is the power scale or psi that determines it. If you can clarify that for me, I would appreciate it, because it happens that the radical, for example, has 65 RA while the speed pro 2022 has 61 RA, which suggests that the radical is more powerful but when you look at the power scale, the radical has 200 and the speed pro 300 suggesting that the speedpro is more powerful. Thank you very much for answering .
@RacketsRunnersVancouver Жыл бұрын
Stiffness can determine power but it also stems from other things like string pattern, beam thickness, racket shape. Don't worry too much about Head's CPI but when you see a thicker frame, or a frame that has more modernly shaped lines you can expect it to be more powerful.

I have both the Soeed Pro and the Auxetic Prestige Tour. The feel is very much the same. However, there is even more stability with the Prestige, especially on volleys. I used a 1.23 gauge string on both because the launch angle on the Prestige is surprisingly low for a 16x19. The Speed Pro is just a little more sluggish through the air. This is because its static weight is lower with a SW of almost 330. You’ll feel the heft in the hoop. The Prestige has a heavier static weight and because of this, there is more weight in the handle, making it more head light in comparison and easier to swing, in spite of its almost 340 SW.

IMO it depends on how you define “better”. It’s a subjective term. From my experience I can say it was a no brainer to get 23 version. @RacketsRunnersVancouver Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I can't say I agree but maybe it's because there's one clear area in the Gravity's sweet spot that feels much sweeter than the rest, whereas the Speed doesn't have that same super sweet zone to me.
@LarzB Жыл бұрын
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver head even marketed the gravity as the stock with the biggest sweet spot. They called it massive sweet spot in their introduction and generally the sweet spot size is mostly defined by the width of the head at the contact area in combination with twist stability and a little bit the string pattern/ density. Maybe lack of quality control resulted in a lower twist weight which negatively impacts the twist stability which gives a feeling of a smaller sweet spot. 1 point of twist weight is a huge difference in twist stability, as i experimented. So maybe by lack of quality control your speed had a higher twist weight than average and the gravity a lower than average. In that case the twist stability of the speed feels better than the gravity and give you a feeling of a bigger sweet spot. It's hard to say what the root cause is. But based on the other attributes and head's marketing the gravity should have the bigger sweet spot on paper and according to my experience with my gravity pro and speed pro (which i had the last 3 iterations of) for me the gravity has the bigger sweet spot. The speed head feels now rigid because of the 3 additional mm in the beam, but that is not sweet spot, but rigidness of the head. The gravity head plane can deform a little bit more than the speed head plane. The rackets flex differently as you said. The speed flexes more in the neck, while the gravity flexes more linear over the whole length of the racket. Ergo, the gravity with 20mm beam will flutter faster than the speed with 23mm beam
@RacketsRunnersVancouver Жыл бұрын
@@LarzB Yes, I completely agree with you on the twist weight side of things the Gravity is higher than the Speed. It's just, like you said, with those 3 extra mm of thickness the Speed, and that modern shape/flex is so much less fluttery than the Gravity on off centre hits, that it just makes for a bigger feeling "sweet spot" to me although, I guess, technically that wouldn't be considered the sweet spot since it is an off centre hit. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Speed is a more forgiving racket, IMO and the Gravity more precise and sweet.

The Gravity seems to be an imitation of the Yonex Vcore Pro

Woah, I don't know about that! Two great rackets but very different in their own right.

@@RacketsRunnersVancouverI was actually looking to see if there was any comments between this two racquets. How would you say they are different? Currently have a Vcore Pro HD (2019), when I bought it my other option was the Gravity. Now that I'm looking (dreaming?😅) of a replacement I was almost sure of the Speed pro but after watching this I felt the Gravity seems more similar to my Yonex, thoughts? Side note, I spend too many hours watching tennis channels in KZbin and for the first time one of your videos popped up. Just subscribed!🎉

If only they made a 90 or 95 sqi Gravity.

That would be a very interesting racket to try.

Try the Head Auxetic Prestige Tour. It’ll blow your mind. Don’t string it above 51lbs though. The plow through and flex are amazing. 95sq inches, 335-340 swing weight, but very maneuverable. It’s not for the faint of heart though. It’s made for advanced players that can swing fast, serve big, and know how to move the ball around the court with ease. Enjoy!
