JEEP= Just Empty Every Pocket lol. Been meaning to do my trans mount but the damn nuts that were welded to the frame arent welded anymore and the bolts just spin forever. Jeep life baby

Thanks for sharing this, man. I was dreading dealing with the tc tray, but you made it look pretty simple - despite the troubles. There's a surprising lack of clear and well-made content for these old rigs -- probably because nothing was being made/shared until they were already 10+ years old. Video always works better for me than tech manuals.

Spray the bolts a little? Scrub and spray (grease) your entire Jeep. It’s soo rusty and dirty. 😬 I changed my mount. It was worn down a bit but it rode worse. 🤷‍♀️ The skid plate is easy to get on if you leave the bolts all the way down then attach the middle bolt on the other side leaving it down until you have all six in place. Use the floor Jack to hold it. Slowly screw in the bolts half way alternating sides. When all six are finger tight, finish them off however you want. That’s the easiest way.

Your vlogs are always fun to watch Smokin Monkey, because you are having fun with your Jeep, just like you're supposed to! I have a suggestion for your next $30 project. Actually, probably more like $60 US, but it'll save you beaucoup bucks in the long run. If you don't know what oil is in your transmission, I would suggest you change it. Easy job with or without the skid plate (mud scoop) on, but less messy with it off. A lot of guys run Red Line MT-90 in their AX-15s, and from my own experience, my tranny shifts a lot better with it. If I remember right, it takes over 2 qts, but less than 3, and costs about $15 or $20 a qt on Amazon. Expensive yes, but not as expensive as a transmission overhaul because the oil in it was junk, and the way you play...consider it an investment in continued fun. Factory fill is 10W30 motor oil. If you go with that, change it more often. Stay away from GL 5, your copper alloy synchro plates don't like it at all.

Hey any advice on getting the skid plate back installed. Seems like I’m having the same problem as you where it needs to be pushed in like a half inch or a quarter inch for the middle ball to grab. One side grabs no problem but then the other side seems to be just a touch too wide to get the boat started. Thank you

Most likely the plate is wrapped a bit. I had to fight it to get it on but once I bought a better plate it went on much easier. I would just say try using a floor jack and get it started a few threads on each bolt then tighten everything down. Hope that helps

@@SmokinMonkeyOG thx for the reply. I got 5 out of 6 then noticed a tranny fluid leak coming from where tranny meets transfer case. Had this leak for a week or 2. I think it’s my input shaft seal. Not much info online as far as doing it myself. Might have to bring it to a tranny shop. I guess most diy’ ers don’t wanna attempt that

Yup the body was taken off the frame and the rust was cut out and repaired with new steel so that’s what you see there

I have a 2002 jeep tj auto, and it goes into gear rough like I jerk or clunks into gear when I put in reverse or drive. But it shifts fine when driving so it's not the transmission, could it be this mount?

Not sure if the automatic has the same mount or not I’ve never actually worked on one or seen one underneath. But if you’re parking on an incline that would cause the clunk. I would use the e brake when parking before you let off the brakes and put it in park so it’s sitting on the e brake and not the transmission
