I love flip overs, I have had LS2 Valiant for 2 yrs plus. I tend to ride with chin flipped over 90 percent of the time only dropping it in cold or high speed situation. Yes it is a little noisy but no where near as loud as Scorpion ADX2 modular. Obviously putting chin bar in closed position reduces noise but you lose the fresh air that I really enjoy. Good video, nice to have flipovers targeted.

at what sort of speeds do you think it get's a little too noisy to listen to music at when flipped open?. thanks
@Speedmaster1200-d8u6 ай бұрын
@@Bob-ts2tu cant really say, never use head set for music only comms on ADX2, which I taped the seams with duck tape to reduce wind noise and wore ear buds for sound, so I never really noticed an issue. And havent worn it since, I used it for a weeks trip to france on a speedmaster 1200. The LS2 I've used on Speedmaster and my Tiger, but even with face open I find the wind noise less than the ADX2, odd really. Again never used headset with LS2. Sorry I can't advise further. A problem with helmets I found out the hard way with the ADX2 is that you can try them in the shop but not on the road. When I rode the ADX2 I immediately picked up pu the wind noise, by far the worst I've had. But the company I bought it from wouldn't accept the helmet back as it had been worn even though it was not fir for purpose. Not ure how we avoid that issue, I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Two of these have had SHARP tests now - the Scorpion and the LS2 both managed 4 stars but the LS2's chin bar latch failed in 37% of impacts and the Scorpion's chin bar failed in 67% of impacts. SHARP don't explicitly test the latch they just record how many times it was not fully locked after each impact test. Having crashed chin first in a Shark Evo-One 2 (0% latch failure) and the latch remained firmly locked I would prefer something a little more secure.

Advant x carbon owner, size m for me is the same as my arai and shoei nxr , it’s a little tight to put on at first because of the flip but using it on a scooter and a multi strada it’s great having a bit more vision riding round in busy areas then obvious drop the front on faster roads, so quick and simple to use, I don’t fully like the obvious extra width on the front area but more versatile than a full face and you definitely enjoy that extra Peripheral vision when riding in built up areas 🙂

Have a Scorpion Exo Tech Carbon. The fit an finish is really good. However, I find the quality is not quite up to the price-tag. I had the mechanism for the inner sun-visor (raise/lower) break, rendering the inner visor useless as there is no replacement to find (at least I haven't found one). It's a pity they make a mechanism you practically use all the time ,out of a flimsy plastic piece.

This one broke about 6 months later just as I was setting off for the NC100. Get glasses with thinner earpieces. I have the Valiant and the Horizon, and have no problems with either of them and the Horizon is the older and more comfortable of the two, probably because I've worn it so much my glasses slip in easily. However, I've also mastered putting the helmets on with my glasses on my face first. That actually ends up being the most comfortable as I don't have to try to thread my earpieces through while my big elephant ears get compressed. Worst case scenario, Flying Eyes has prescription glasses specifically for helmet wearers, but are extremely expensive, I priced out a pair with progressive lenses and just about shat myself. Don't know why progressive lenses have to cost so much more.
