Its gonna be differant for evryone, no art is the best its the user and there attitudes that make people deadly. the human body uses curved or straight attacks thats all....... so its easy to look at any art and see gaps, but its how we use our skills that make the differance the most deadly fighters in history most often have never had a days training in there life, they reside in the prisons of each and evry country yet people still argue over the best arts ...... it just funny

A single martial art is not always applicable to all, one may say that it depends on the person's interest.

I like your choices : ) I would add karate. Not modern sport karate, but old school self defense oriented karate (I mean, I love modern sport karate, but it sucks for self defense)

Cheers for the Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Chireetler Dread Free Rule (should be on google have a look)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for learning self effective defence moves minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my close friend Aubrey at very last got great success with it.

Mat k do u think that wing chun is effective? I wanna know? Bcze there are so many people out there who are saying that its useless
@shinwook51457 жыл бұрын
Yes, it works, as long as it is properly taught. If not, is a joke, as any martial art. Also, if you want to learn wing chun for self defense, make sure your school focuses on that. Even if the teacher is good, if your school focuses on, lets say, energy feeling during the practice of chi sao, and that's the ONLY focus of your school, it's going to be hard for you to apply that on a self defense context. That doesnt mean is a bad school, only that doesnt focuses on self defense. So, make sure that self defense is one of the focus of your school (not necesarily the main one, but one of them), if you want to use wing chun for self defense. If you are going to learn self defense, this are good signs for the school: the practice of sparring, scenario training, adressing all combat ranges (no contact, trapping, grappling, ground), addresing combat for a natural position, sucker attacks, adressing the stress inherent to the violent act (stress training, emotional fitness, etc) Of course, the most effective things (and if you want to be effective at not getting beaten up on non competitive situations (aka the streets), these are the keys) to survive a violent encounter are related to avoid it on the first place. Learn which precaution measures you should take (avoidance), how to be aware so that you see the potential problems as soon as posible-awareness buys time, time buys options (as walking away)-, learn when to walk away, and when to run away, how to deescalate conflicts, and the psycological characteristics of the criminal (to avoid it), etc. And what are your real risks of ending on a violent situation... probably not very high, so no need to fear : ) which doesnt mean not to prepare : ) PD: I think I wrote too much and went off topic... whatev : )

This is a video by Wong Shun Leung on the fundamentals of Wing Chun, maybe you'll find some ideas to train there (I know the fight scene at the start is pretty random and unrealistic, idk why it was put there, but the rest of the video is actually very well explained to my understanding)m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYC8iZ1pftuVi5I This other video is a demosntration by Samuel Kwok of some applications of Wing Chun movements for fighting m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXXRnmOPnrOZmaM just 5 minutes but very interesting, give the moves a try with a friend or alone (slow and with safety ofc, at least at first), I found them really interesting, hope you like them too. Tell me how that goes : )
