I've been using IN-8s for six months and love them. I remember being worried about the hiss before I got them, but the very minor hiss hasn't been an issue at all. It doesn't even enter into the equation when I am mixing. If I needed more monitors, I wouldn't hesitate on IN-8 v2.

I purchased the Kali IN-8 V1 monitors almost a couple years ago. I watched your video on them & I totally agree with you. There's nothing wrong with the original version. They are just as smooth. I was just in Nashville weeks ago with the artist I currently play for & the producer who is producing him is a very well known person (he's produced some major hits). He couldn't believe that the demo of one of the songs (a song that my artist wrote & we the band recorded) was done at a home studio, on live drums (no samples), and mixed thru mid price monitors (Kali IN-8 V.1). He complimented me, by asking "Why wasn't I in Nashville working in a major studio as a recording & mix engineer?" Whether or not he meant it or not, I really appreciated the compliment. And thank to your video on the original Kali IN-8's, I have heard a major difference in my mixes. Prior to the Kali purchase I was mixing thru the JBL LSR4828P monitors. Which also brought my mixing up to a new level until they were stolen back 2019.

Warren, I have been using a set of Kustom three way 50 Watt PA speakers. And Sony MDR-7506 headphones. The PA speakers colored the upper mids and don’t have a great bass response so lately have been mixing mainly with headphones. I just received my pair of the new IN-8’s yesterday and everything you said is true. Listening to my mixes on them I hear what needs fixing, immediately! And there is zero hiss. I have become an instant fan of Kali Audio.

I'm using APS Klassik 2020, from Poland, in my main home studio. But I use a pair of these in my project/rehearsal studio. The APS are physically a little better built, physically (better braced, damped, more sturdy, controls and connections feel sturdier) and the bass is tighter/more even, as they are barely ported. But for a little over half the price, the Kali IN-8 v2 overall sound holds up very well, and are absolutely killer sub 1000. I use the Kali IN-8 v2 with Ferrofish Pulse 16, and a bunch of Audient ASP800 pres. It's a really good value setup, and very expandable up to high channel counts. The Kali IN-8 v2 gives me reliable 3-way monitoring for incredible price. The Ferrofish has 16 line inputs, for synths, 4 ADAT inputs, and can be expanded with MADI or DANTE. At 50 eur a channel, unbelievable power and flexibility for the price, is reliable and sounds good too. Same with the Audient ASP800, with mic pre colour options, and great sounding clean clear preamps that work out 80eur per channel.

Up until early 2020 the Bluesky System One. 2.1. Loved that sound and found it perfect for my dialogue mixing work. Then one of my closest friends and a fellow dialogue mixer passed away suddenly(get your heart checked mate) and left me his KM120A speakers. I was already eyeing them as a replacement, so these have been my main speakers for the past year. Good low end that I sometimes supplement with a custom sub, especially when I‘m mixing for a 5.1 show. Smooth high end and mids. Workable all day which is one of my gripes with the midrange Genelecs(103x) which struck me as a bit too honest. I‘m definitely checking out the Kali IN-8 v2 in the speaker room of my local supplier, as soon as possible. They have KM120A speakers there too so a comparison without taking them home first is possible.

I must say that my experience with Kali would have been without problems. My LP-6 sound great, but two different speakers were shipped with broken amps that creates a small distortion noise after just few weeks of light use. This appears to be a common issue with products shipped to Europe. Its an absolute pain in the butt to be exchanging speakers. The speaker that I got as warranty replacement had the same issue. So the Kalis will no go to the home theater and I will get some proper speakers. I believe this is the true cost of affordable speakers: something has to give, there is no free lunch and it is manufacturing quality and durability or some components that are compromised. Next time, I will just buy something like Genelecs.

I used to mix and record pretty regularly between 2000, and 2012 (myself and local small time artists), but I have six kids and I had to redirect my energy and money. Hey Warren! Hope all is well. Thanks for a great channel and a very interesting video. Yes, I've been keeping these speakers in sight for a while, and it seems already the first version was a real bargain. The only "complaint" was that some engineers found them a bit noisy compared to other more pricy monitors. That wouldn't have bothered me though. I'm more interested in how the speakers translate the actual audio then how little nose they produce (within reasonable limits of course). :) Kali's update to V2 makes me really interested. I've put off making a speaker upgrade since I use Sonarworks (with my M-Audio BX8 Gen 2) and I'm quite satisfied with both the comfortability of the audio as well as the audability of the system. But with the IN8s I feel (know) it's going to be a huge leap of improvement to the setup I'm using today. MAudio and Kali are in different leagues, and the Kalis are 3-ways as well. So I guess the V2s are going to be virtually impossible to resist even for a contented guy liek me. :) Warm greetings from Sweden! / Daniel Vållberg

I have a pair of ns-10s and a pair of large dual 12” in wall mains (very flattering) I need a set of ultra flat-accurate pair of modern monitors in between those. I love the ATC’s but I want spend less then $1500 a pair. would these be a good fit on a $1500/pair budget?

Hi Warren and thanks for another informative video. Currently using a pair of Yamaha HS-8s which are very crisp and detailed with plenty of bass. Got to say, these Kali IN-8 v2s do seem tempting... might be adding a second pair of monitors in the Studio soon!

I have the LP-6's largely in part to you. If I were to win the IN-8's it would be an amazing upgrade and I would give the LP-6's to my long distance recording buddy!

I wish I'd seen this when you released it! I mostly work on a pair of Eve sc305's, and love them! With a pair of M-Audio BX8a Deluxe monitors (which were my second ever set of monitors, and while they may not be the best, I know them extremely well) as my second pair. Everything I've heard about the Kali's makes me want to chuck the M-Audio's for a pair of in8's! Really sad I missed out on the competition. Oh well, probably wouldn't have won anyway 🤷🏽♀️

Nice review! I'm using a pair of Equator D5's with a KRK S10 sub with Sonar Works Sound ID calibration. I've always been a fan of coaxial monitors since my first exposure to Tannoy's back in the mid 80's.

I don't want to spoil you my lord, but until you haven't tried the PSI audio speakers, your quest for monitors will never end :)

I'm still using my old Mackie Hr624s. They work perfectly, but I always think it would help expand my mixing perspective to change things up, after listening to the same mons for almost 15yrs!. I've been really tempted by the IN 5" version. You and many others say the same thing......the low end is strong but not hyped, detailed but not wimpy. Under $1000 for a pair of fine 8" 3ways is a helluva QPR! 😉

I do all my recording/mixing on headphones, but have held off on mastering as I haven't any speakers. But, I have been looking into the Kali stuff as they are incredibly impressive with their price point.

Running HS7’s with the HS8 sub, in a smaller room than I’d like with tons of treatment from GIK, Sonarworks does some gentle sculpting of the remaining problem areas. I’ve used RoomEqWizard and sonarworks extensively to measure response and I found the most amazing thing I ever did was just to treat the room. Huge difference in RT60 and frequency response. If I didn’t have that it really wouldn’t matter much what speakers I had. With it I’m pretty happy with the Yamahas. Now however the question is what’s the next level of awesome!? I have to admit I really loved MDN’s video on this channel about his mixing setup so I’m trying to learn to maximize what I have before I move on but it does seem like some great stuff is out there when I’m ready for it!

Appreciate all you do, I feel like speaker reviews are all the same. Which usually consists of the reviewer owning nicer high end monitors. Feel like a speaker review should consist of a mix that was done on their own set of speakers and then a mix done on the review. Seems like the only way we would get an understanding of how these translate? I know we can always just buy and return but that’s a pretty toxic footprint we need to get out of. Saying all this as i am searching for a proper 8” monitor solution without a sub. Again thank you for the video the continued information you share it’s appreciated more than you know.

Crossing my fingers for these! Been looking for something with more detail and low end than my old 2nd gen KrK Rockit 5s!
