I got the 35mm Voigtlander ultron II lens after watching this video. It's absolutely amazing and I have been so happy shooting with it. Thanks for the review Jimmy

I love my 35mm Voigtlander ultron II! I’m always surprised at the quality I get. It’s just as good as a Leica lens if not better. My only complaint is that the Summicron is a more beautiful designed lens. Thanks for the review I agree 100%

I think the B&W photos are Jon Manjiro’s?

You are RIGHT.👍

Do you have the Summicron 8 element version 1 to compare those with?
This lens looks so much better in the video than in the official product photos. Also, the current 35 Summicron ASPH is the much improved version 2, and it seems like you were referring to the version 1 in the video.
We know you know the B&W photos are jonmanjiro's photos that he posted at rangefinderforum

@@北方月令 I emailed him on June 3rd, asking him for permission about share his images on the internet. Check my other video for the 50mm voigtlander heliar classic where I cited another fellow photographer’s work. I’ve also asked his permission on his website where he explicitly asked me to put copyright information so I did. Citation and bibliography is the first thing I learnt in my long academic career. Thank you for your reminder anyways though.

Okay so I've put his name in the title of the video since there's no way around it now. If it was a review article I would surely put the photographers name for copyright reasons but since these were random photos from a forum (I actually downloaded those photos for detailed comparisons in LR for myself way before this video was even made) so I barely remembered it was from rangefinderforum. But later someone reminded me I think in one of the comment so I shot him an email afterwards and it slipped out of my mind.

@@JimmyCheng 那么,以下是jonmanjiro本人让我转告的。Here's a message from jonmanjiro to you. Well, I must say its a surprise to see the view from my balcony in a random youtube video. I'm jonmanjiro and those are my B&W photos that I posted at rangefinderforum. For the record, I was NOT contacted by you to request permission to use them. The following is from the rangefinderforum terms of service: "Copyrights and Permissions of RFF Contents ALL material posted in RangeFinderForum (RFF) is Copyright protected. All photographs published on RFF are owned and copyright protected by their respective owner. Do not violate other's copyright by posting their text or photos on RFF without their consent. Any publication of material from RFF without a written consent from the author or photographer is in violation of US Copyright protection law.” As it clearly states, all photographs published on RFF are owned and copyright protected by their respective owner. Citing only rangefinder forum as the source doesn't cut it, you have to get written consent from the photographer to use their photos. I'm hereby giving you that written consent to use my photos. Great channel, great enthusiasm for all things rangefinder! Thanks for the citation in your edited title. I wouldn't necessarily call my comparison shots "wonderful" but I'll go with that lol. Keep at it, but please do better with the copyright thing going forward.

why more contrasty? my Leica Apo Summicron M 35 is even less contrasty then my cron or lux.

Wow Jimmy, at this point why even get the summilux (for just one stop). To me the leica system is about compactness. I had the KOB and sold it for a 28mm summicron, but missed it. But this lens seems like a better deal
@JimmyCheng3 жыл бұрын
yes it is. I’ve got tons of Leica lenses, but Voigtlander’s recent offerings have really tip over the balance (this, the new 50 1.5, the new 28 ultron, and the newly announced 90 2.8 apo). They are way cheaper for equal built quality, similar optical performance and great characters, and more importantly, size. Unlike Leica who keeps releasing better and bigger optics like the 75 noctilux and 90 summilux and even the apo 35 is much bigger than the old one, voigtlander still remembers the merits of shooting a range finder. It’s never about critical sharpness imo, but the speed and convenience of carrying one.

I don’t know how you did your test. But according to mine, the difference is minor.
Order one if you don’t care about Leica look and Leica colors. Or shoot Sony right away because why even bother. Your eye sight is suffering.
@harrivayrynen Жыл бұрын
do not say so. I like the rangefinder and Leica M8.2 but I cannot pay for Leica lenses and competitors are quite good also, and with Lightroom or Capture One we can get small boost to colors if needed.
