If you were to include Fitzroy, Hayden Bunton stats were simply incredible. He won 3 brownlows in just 119 games. And the only player in history to achieve at least 1 Brownlow vote per game. He also won 3 Sandover medals when he played in the WA comp. The only player to win 3 Sandovers and 3 Brownlows. He also a highly regarded cricketer that had the potential to play test cricket. It's always interesting when someone says they think Gary Ablett Junior was the better player. Often they're letting Ablett Snr personal life bias their view and also never actually saw him play live. As someone who been at the games watching both playing at their absolute peak, sorry there is just no debate. Ablett senior was simply more skillful, explosive, exhilarating and most of all unstoppable then his son. If you think stats and decorations are what decide the better player you don't really understand why people watch football. Junior was great, but we've had quite a few champions like him (superb midfielders) over the years. There has only ever been one Gary Ablett Snr.

Comparing Coleman to Hudson is like splitting hairs. Generally players are rated on how dominant they are in their eras compared their contemporaries. Coleman played in a much lower scoring era, the game was played differently in his era compared to Hudson. Both outstanding and legendary players of course but the differences being in Hudson's era, many players were kicking tonnes, hence he won the league goalkeeping award 4 times in 7 years, compared to Coleman 5 times in 5 full seasons. The other difference is that Coleman had not hit his peak at the time of his injury, it was only his 6th season in senior football, compared to Huddo retiring in about his 10th senior season (having played several seasons in Tasmania's highest league). Many of those who saw Coleman play rate him the best they ever saw & by a fair margin, but again. As I said, like splitting hairs, you would probably rate them equal, easily both legends.

Dick Reynolds, Kevin Bartlett, Malcolm blight and Greg Williams most likely should have been included
@joememphis15712 жыл бұрын
Greg Williams was magnificent and superlative despite being knock-kneed and having controversy with salary cap issues and pushing an umpire in front of 85,000 people in the final season of his career . He even got AFL Team of The Century inclusion on the interchange. 1986 and 1994 Brownlow Medallist and 1995 premiership player.
@dansharp28602 жыл бұрын
It's hard to make an argument against Dick Reynolds for the Bombers. He has 3 Brownlows which is the equal most of any player, 4 premierships all as captain and 7 club B&Fs. Also a team of the century nod. Coleman changed the game and Hird is easily the best Bomber of the modern era but it's still King Richard for me at #1 so it's baffling he wasn't an HM at least.
@joememphis15712 жыл бұрын
@@dansharp2860 King Richard was with Essendon for 772 games. 325 as a player and 447 as a coach of which 174 were as player-coach. 1933-1950 as a player and from 1939-1960 as player-coach and then senior coach.

You lost me when you said that Coleman has the best goalkicking average in VFL/AFL history. That honorific belongs to Peter Hudson. Also, Cousins played in the 2006 winning premiership, not 2005. Buckley never played in a premiership team, which takes him out of the running at the first hurdle. As I wrote in another of your videos, it's Albert Collier as best player at Collingwood, and quite possibly the best player ever.
@chasindigo2 жыл бұрын
Coventry would be a honourable mention.
@azzaprime72572 жыл бұрын
Albert Collier the best ever player? On what merit?
@petefumberger52252 жыл бұрын
@@azzaprime7257 On any merit that any person makes a statement like that. Who can really say who was the best player ever? It's an opinion, going on Mr Collier's record, that I have made. It can't be refuted, it is an opinion, and as such is inviolate, just as your opinion, if you have one, on who you think the greatest player of all time, is. Six premierships, three B&Fs, I think, one Brownlow, one Leitch Medal when he went to play in Tasmania for more money (it was during the depression). Only one player has a better record, and that is Michael Tuck, with his seven premierships, but he could never be classed as the greatest. He was a great journeyman, a very consistent player for many years, part of an amazing club that had so much success. Personally, from those players I have actually seen play, I would go with Wayne Carey. Hope that clears it up for you.
@palamj22 жыл бұрын
Fact Check: Hudson averaged 5.63 goals a game 129 Games and 727 goals so Coleman does not have the best goal average of all time.
@azzaprime72572 жыл бұрын
Judd > Cousins. Judd is regarded one of the greatest ever midfielders to ever play the game, meanwhile Cousins was hooked on drugs, no idea if he was on enhancing ones as well. Who bloody knows.

Pavlich is better than Fyfe (Aside from brownlow arguement which is a mids award anyway) Pavlich is an elite position player forward or back, an elite kick of ball (unlike Fyfe) Better leader than Fyfe. More impact. Sorry but at this time Pavlich

@@redtiger4352 Pavlich has never had enough recognition in the East as he should have been given.
