I have two frenchies both girls they were rescued from a puppy farm they were breaders I was lucky enough to get my two they were 5 years when I got them and didnt know how to play as they were in cages arou nd thevwalls of a barn they had never been walked or trained in any way so to see these wee darlings and theyre antics its wonderful . giving me back what I missedbwhen they were young thank you youve made me very happy. My two are doing well but are now old ladies but are healthy thats all that counts I love them tibits God bless .

Why does the US reduce every breed of cat and dog to cripplingly smooshed-in faces with bulging eyes? Spaniels, chihuahuas, even papillons. Some of these poor guys look like pugs.

Actually, the breed originated in France (imagine that) as a companion dog as well as being used to agitate bulls back in the early 1800s. They were also fighting dogs which is why the smooshed face was desired. Kept other dogs from grabbing their snouts.

Yeah they're adorable but every time someone breeds them they cut them open for a c-section. Natural birth is extremely rare. It's barbaric. Too bad we can't make shelter dogs as trendy as frenchies.

Shelter dogs are unpredictable and you never know what traits and characteristics your dog will have. Getting pure bred will always be the #1 choice, it’s a reason they rarely get put in shelters. You can know exactly what your getting and can make sure it’s appropriate for you long term, instead of getting a cute puppy that turns out to be a dog that destroys your apartment because he is a dog meant to work 24/7 and you can’t give him that in a apartment lifestyle. So you find yourself giving him away
