In my 3000sf shop first year used torpedo heater caused condensation, roof ice dams and headaches. Second year installed 150Kbtu diesel furnace which heated it ok except floor to about 3ft was an ice box! Third year bought a (Canadian brand) center fired direct vent propane ir tube heater 50ft long heats floor and migrates all across it. Typ winter propane usage is around 300 gallons. Been 15yrs and still love it, best investment ever!

They are great heaters. I used a couple on small drywall jobs and they warm everything in the room not just the air. When the power goes out they are safe for inside use with a generator outside of course. Only use diesel fuel to keep the smell down and you can buy a additive that will make the fuel smell like grape of strawberry. Well worth the money.

Cart before the horse sort of speak. Pole barn 30x48x10 built but the spray foam guys are booked out. I own a lawn care snow plowing business and it is 8 degrees. Tailgate has frozen shut with tonneau cover on so i couldnt get in the bed to grab a shovel. Drove to the manual car wash and sprayed truck down for 20 minutes to remove a lot of packed snow/ice. It only cost me $2 because as soon as i put the $2 in i realized the line to spray nozzle was frozen. Luckily the owner of the wash happened to be there so he apologized and swiped his card and told me to use it as long as i want. Awesome. Got tailgate to work. I dont mind some ice build up but need my stuff to work when needed. Still can feel resistance when lowering gate but i shall heat up my barn.

I got 4 ft of regular fireplace flu pipe material .I took the bottom window out and made a double pain replacement for the flu to come threw. I took the thermostat and ran it inside also. When the spaceheater comes on you don't even hear it. I made a cover for the spaceheater out side with 2 peaces of plywood to keep the rain and snow off of it. Use diesel fuel in it to so you don't stink like kerosene. Best set up I have ever used. Just like a heat pump actually !
@returnofsid2 жыл бұрын
@paul watson to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, you're using a torpedo style heater, placing it outside, and piping the heat in through stove pipe that's directly covering the end of the torpedo heater? Did you plumb it through the wall, using double wall pipe? If you double wall pipe it, all the way, you'd have less heat loss at the exterior piping, though that's probably not much of a realistic consideration. I've done something very similar, on a much smaller scale, while ice fishing. Using a portable diesel heater, outside the pop up, plumbed into the hut with a short piece of 3" double wall. It eliminates the noise AND the need to vent fresh air to the heater, AND solves the CO2 issues!

Jeffrey Scott! Hey buddy! You found me. I've never advertised this because I have always wanted to see where this could go on its own. It's a fantastic heater. I've been burning it a lot lately. Should keep you roasty toasty!

Thank you! I don't post as often as I wish I could or spend as much time on the machines, but it's a journey! Glad to have you along for the ride! Come out to the farm and play if you are ever in Indy!

You recommend kerosene or diesel

I have always used diesel with good results. Namely because I already have it around for other machines.

Do you run K-1 or are you burning Diesel #2 right from the gas pump. I have the Master Brand version and want to burn Diesel for ease of buying it over K-1 but haven't dared. I don't want to clog anything up? Thank you!!
@IndyFarmLife2 жыл бұрын
I'm buying diesel right from the pump. I'm actually using it this very moment. Save yourself even more cash and buy off road diesel!
@jeffreyheverly90112 жыл бұрын
@@IndyFarmLife thank you. You didn't have to adjust any pressure on the heater to get a good burn?
@IndyFarmLife2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreyheverly9011 No Sir. I had read about/watched a video where someone said they needed to do that, so I was ready for it. But I just put diesel in it and went for it. I have run through multiple tanks so far with no issue. It has always lit on the first try too. I figure if I had some bit of an issue that would be the first place it shows and take a time or two to lite up. It's solid.

Actually no. Smells nothing like the exhaust from a machine burning diesel.

Haha it has been a pretty good unit thus far. Very low on fumes and very high on heat output. The best part is how quiet it is.

I had the 80’000 BTU Remington version…Nothing but a fire hazard when the photo lens that controls when it shuts off or turns on gets a little dirty .It caught fire multiple times..I have a big garage with 14ft ceilings and it kept it warm if you left it on all the time....Kerosene was $42cnd for 9L so I started using Diesel..Very hard to start when running Diesel when it’s -25c ..The fan wouldn’t allow the Diesel to light up properly,I had to fabricate a piece of tin to slip in front of the fan so it would start..Diesel fumes made me feel sick all of the time and at the end of the winter my $100’000 Boat had a nice layer of Diesel Exhaust particles all over it.. I threw it over the bank behind my garage.DANGEROUS JUNK..
