Hey yall welcome to todays video about the best and worst items in each and every single Mario entry. This one took a long time to make but I think Ive showcased the most important I could find but of course let me know what you think in the comments. Also please like, comment and subscribe!

The real big stink about the Super Guide in NSMBWii is, _whether you use it or not,_ merely dying enough times in one stage to make it appear will cost you the star-sparkle on your save file.

Exactly! Which is yet another reason I really dislike NSMBWii.

NSMBWii and 3D Land are brutal because even if you trigger the assist block, you lose the star sparkle on your save file forever. Starting in NSMB2, just beating the level again without assistance will restore the star sparkle.

@@MeesterTweester I heard once that the damage is done the moment you lose the Xth life, even if you go to a different level and then return, the assist block will still be there, the sparkle will be gone from your save file even if you didn't re-enter the level and "witness" the assist block, but immediately exited the game on the Xth death, the game will have autosaved after the critical death, or something. ...I don't have the ability to test that, but holy freak show. At least NSMB2 and SMG2 let you "rectify your mistake" by later beating the level legit...

@@WackoMcGoose Yeah it's gone once you get the number of deaths When beating NSMBWii I beat one of the last levels on my last life possible before I would lose the sparkles

@@MeesterTweester Apparently, if you exit the level after death X-1 (one before doom), go to and fully play through a different level, then go back to the one in question, the "doom countdown" will have reset... hopefully.

I really love the Red Star from Mario Galaxy really underused however would’ve been nice to have more than two levels where you could fly freely

They should of put the red star in the super Mario galaxy 2 fluzzard levels ((the ones where you have to fly with that big bird))

A easter-egg no ones talking about is the refference in mario odyssey to mario galaxy: in koopa freerunning one of the slowest koopas is the green one (green shell) and the second fastest is the red one (red shell) and the one who beats them all, the gold one (gold shell). I think this is a pretty cool refference to super mario galaxy. Green one of the slowest, red second fastest and gold the fastest. Seems cool to me

Nope, Mario 3’s anchor is meant to hold down the ship once it’s left the final castle of each map. Because if you die in the castle the enemy will leave in a shop to a random point in the map. It wouldn’t make sense for the coin ship to need an anchor because you can’t fail them.

I agree the Goomba Shoe is one of my favorite items in the series and it's too bad it only appeared in one level in Super Mario Bros. 3. At least you can use it a lot more in Super Mario Maker.

You don't have to skip planets while catching the wind with those flowers. You can just grab one on the next planet. Sure, they're not as fun to use as the Launch Stars, but I think it's pretty fun to use. You just use it as a shortcut which never works.

I really like your series on interesting aspects of the Mario series. You made some mistakes in this video through. In SMB (NES), beating the game additionally makes the Buzzy Beatles and Koopa Troopas move faster. It's worth mentioning. In SMB2 this is apparent when looking back at it, but only the enemies get frozen by the clock: not the world. In SMB3, I don't think the anchor does anything for coin ships. It's used to stop the Koopa Kids' airship from moving in case you die on an airship stage. Try dying on an airship on purpose. And that matters if you skipped any stages in a world because the runaway airship tends to get behind locked paths. Oh man you forgot about the hammer item in SMB3. The hammer is the coolest thing because you can unlock secret paths on the world map. Look up how to get the 3rd secret whistle in world 2, it uses the hammer to open a secret path. Finally, the heart in Super Mario 64 heals you for running through it, not for standing in it. I had trouble understanding it myself when it was new, but now I know you should run through them for health

i found a bunch more mistakes the goomba shoe only appears in 1 level in the entire game of smb3 but he said multiple levels, the grab blocks he said were from smw were technically originated as those throwable ice blocks in smb3, there's only spinning hearts in like half of the mario 64 levels and he said there's one in every level, the koopa shells in galaxy functioned like that underwater in mario 64, in nsmbw the clowncar is only used in one bjr fight not a bunch and the mega bowser fight he showed for it is from nsmbu not wii, and finally the luigi blocks in nsmbw and nsmbu do not in fact beat the level for you, you still have to beat it yourself after luigi shows you how

the goomba mask is pretty useful in searchlight sneak, because you can go directly in front of the lights without activating them. other than that, i'd agree it's pretty useless.

Why would you stop at the spinning heart in SM64? It was always my understanding that they heal you more the faster you run through them.

i feel like the assist items were major cop-out picks, they arnt meant for the average player, they were made to help people who struggle with games in general and those people dont really care about %100ing games they are just playing to have fun even if its deemed at a lower level of completion to the game

It would have been cool if the Invincibility Leaf appears in every level after you get every star coin in the game so you can go back and freely explore the levels you already completed.

Also, using the luigi super guide permanently prevents you from getting shiny stars on your save file. For Super Mario World, you talked about the bonus block backwards. Over 30 coins give you one coin. Under 30 coins gives you a 1-up mushroom. At least, the video showed this result.

You do not have to ground pound upside down cataquacks lol. Also I don't think you have to stand in the hearts in 64, I think the faster you run through them the faster they spin and the more health it restores, been awhile so I'm not sure on that one

Just listing the super guides and super suits as the worst item is kind of lazy. I have gotten some real anxiety over some of the more difficult levels in 3D World, and it was such a nice thing for Nintendo to include a helping hand for players who for some reason are unable to complete a specific level. It's like assist mode in SMO or mellow mode in Yoshi, for those of us who don't really care about "getting better" at hard levels and just like to enjoy a game our own way. It's a matter of accessibility, and if you don't need it, you can feel free to just ignore it.

it's actually crazy the lack of polish this and a lot of your videos have. so many easily fact checked mistakes (i found at least 6 in this video alone that i left in seperate comments, and some other guy found a bunch more), words pronounced wrong that could've just been recorded again if you actually watched through it when editing (pico park? 11:28 properly intemented?), and of course laziness, including reusing the help blocks in half the newer games in this video for worst item and just lazy videos in general, making pretty much the exact same video with small variations a million times, including the script. This style of video could work well, but not when they have this many problems
