The best part about City Living is how real it is: the run down apartments and lot traits, the festivals and food stalls, the noisy neighbours and to top it off the karaoke & singing skill is a cute bonus 🥰

But it's toooo frickin laggy, the festival's are nearly unplayable 😭 and I have a totally fine PC.. I really like city living, but I never end up using it more than for the apartments. And a huge part of that is bc of the lag ... really sucks. Get together is my fave, I think that one has so much gameplay and I have much less lag with it ... but never totally lag free bc the sims 4 😂

I know this is kind of niche, but I play on long lifespan, and one of my favorite packs is Discover University. I feel like it is the only thing in the game that was tuned for long lifespans, whether they intended that or not. I give my sims 2 courses a semester, and that perfectly balances the amount of time spent focusing on school and actually having a life. It also takes up a good chunk of the ya life stage, but there's still a lot left once you graduate. It feels very representative of real life. And since toddlers have an absurd 28-day life stage, which makes them very boring very quickly, I like to dump them at their grandparents and then go off to university. By the time I'm done, they're usually a child 😂

I think Island Living's problem is not necesarily the lack of hotels, because that was never the intent or the focus of the pack, but rather that they didn't commit to any of the features that come in the pack, like tha fact, for example, that you have no real way of knowing there is ton of different events that happen in Sulani because the game doesn't bother to let you know like it does with City Living, Snowy Escape and Cottage Living, even the celebrity events fot Get Famous are in the calendar; the career is also repetitive and boring after a while, but so are the rest of the careers in TS4, however perhaps if there were more like a Geologist career for example (you know, cause there is a literal volcano there), there would be more variety that encourages the player to live and play in Sulani, there is the odd jobs sistem, but I have never used that in my entire life, so idk if it is good and Sulani itself if probably, hands down, the most beautiful world in the entire game, but it doesn't save the pack from being just middle of the road. I will say that, with the update on rental lots that allow us to place them anywhere, I have used Island Living more and some of its featrues as well.

this is late, whoops haha, but i love the odd jobs feature! i used one of my sims as a stay at home dad & he did odd jobs & made quite a bit in just a few hours or so! it’s based off skill levels so you have to work up to higher payments & things. but i agree with everything you said!! i wish there was just more!😩 they spoiled us with sims 3 with them being such expansive packs 😩

The quality and overall style of the packs seem very random. Some of the build and CAS items are too themed (Cats and Dogs, University) while others (Get Together, Eco Lifestyle) are more simple and versatile. I'm a builder, and it's really hard to not reuse the same items sometimes because despite the nice bed frame, I don't want a llama quilt or paw prints on everything. 😅

I’m glad island living didn’t come with hotels. It’s annoying when the place one lives is always in games as a holiday destination rather than a place to live. So for that reason, I’m glad there’s no hotels in Sulani

If they did it like in Ts3 you would have the best of both worlds, because you could choose to build hotels where you wanted them. I hate how ts4 is always so restrictive and leaves out so much content. 🙄

I actually use the Cats & Dogs CAS a lot, though admittedly the hairs are not great. Edit: Also, I still say Island Living is a great pack that suffers from poor advertising and false expectations. Everyone blames it for no hotels and bad mermaids - but it’s really not a vacation or supernatural pack! These are things people expected or wanted, but not what it is. Might as well say Get to Work’s gameplay is terrible because it doesn’t have kids’ summer camps and the aliens aren’t developed.

A lot of the highlights of Sulani are shallow, though. Most festivals are eorse versions of things we can already do or get in other packs, and they're easy to miss. Island cleaning can't be undone, is largely aesthetic, and can easily accomplished by accident. Odd jobs are 90% rabbit holes, 10% putting an item in the mailbox. Diving is a rabbit hole. All the careers are rabbit holes or have you do basic tasks at homs. Like fine, don't judge it for what it doesn't have. But the pack doesn't have much going for it, either.

We can have Hotel Living and Cottage Hotel and Get to that Hotel and Snowy Hotels and At the Hotel Together and Eco Hotel… 🙃 I’m not saying there’s nothing to criticize in Island Living, and while I love it, you may not. I’m just saying the argument “there’s no hotels and the mermaids are boring” is old, tired, and proof the person saying it never actually looked at the pack for itself.

Everyone always says its a bad pack for replayability but to be honest I had way more fun and was way more engaged playing strangerville than I did vampires, which I personally found quite boring in the higher levels because you just do the same thing over and over again :/ But again, would be super interested in your take!

High School Years *1.8/10* A joke of an expansion pack, that was basically a way of promoting genz, there is literally no gameplay and it doesn't improve teens at all💀 11. Island Living *2.3/10* There's nothing to do with it and basically everything are rabbitholes but it's pretty atleast 💀 10. Eco Living *2.5/10* We can all agree that nobody asked for this and that it's the most useless expansion of the series... 9. Snowy Escape *2.9/10* Cute but boring after a few plays, that is more of a game pack 8. Get To Work *3.2/10* It needs a refresh so badly 7. City Living *3.6/10* Ok expansion but i am salty that it comes with a singing skill but no career💀 6. Get Famous *3.7/10* Mediocre expansion that only has a good celebrity system but that's it 5. 17:20 Speaking of which... I really wish this was more like my experience with pets in the Cats & Dogs. I mean is it just me or did I just absolutely not find any cats or dogs anywhere on the lot ever unless I specifically go to a vet or create one for my own family? Sims 3 used to have a lot of stray cats and dogs showing up everywhere in your neighborhood, I was expecting that sort of experience but no. Absolutely not one. Not even owners of pets showing up unless you specifically have that lot trait, which is fine, but how many lots do you really see with that trait ever unless again you specifically create one? I really wish there were as many stray animals in CD as there are stray celebrities in GF. And vice versa.

HSY absolutely wins for most misleading ad…nothing about that ad is really in the pack, minus the sims and their hair and outfits. Seeing people go through 1 day of let’s play, or even 1 week (yes, please…the prom doesn’t need to be once per week…let the player place it for when you have a teen, like as a “holiday” or “event”) you see that it is utterly boring and a waste of money. Even the cool “sneak out window” doesn’t work (unless you delete all the doors from the house, etc.) We shall not speak of MWHorrors. Agree that Cottage Living, Get to Work and Seasons are the best packs. All of them give a little bit of something and I own most of them (no HSY, MWS) but I can say that I have never played in Ski Land (forgetting what it’s called) or done anything with Eco Lifestyle, I turn off the fame system (and the NPC voting), and probably enjoy Cottage Living the most for my style of gameplay. I always love gardening in the Sims (and adding nectar may be the only reason I ever get HR…when it is very on sale.)

This is literally the only town (Snowy Escape) I play besides San Myushuno (City Living). Tried cottage living but it became extremely tedious with the farm animals and chickens being the worst. I honestly think it's the best world if you enjoy Japanese lifetyles, and the town is so cute and you're able to do so much stuff like snowboarding, rock climbing, skiing, going to japanese-themed bathhouses, lifestyles was introduced, hot pots and choosing favorite chopsticks, and there is a beautiful hiking trail where you can meet different types of forest animals that can befriend you or harm you lol. Plus you have two different seasonal parts of the town. You have the spring-like main town, and the mountain resort side where they also hold winter-themed events every week. Have no idea why people don't think this is the best pack when IT IS in my eyes.

4 months late but oh well. The cas and the build buy is amazing but thats all good about the pack. I never use the go to school feature, or do i go to the “pier”. I wouldn’t but it if you are into gameplay but think about it if you enjoy cas and building
