Thanks for an excellant video. I was thinking very seriosly about buying a GT, but you have really made me think again. I guess if money was no object then the Cons wouldn't be such an issue, shame because I really like the car.

Had a Gtc 2007 for 3 years. Do 12000 a year. It’s been brilliant. Most running gear is Vw or Audi and available at factors. It you want to go in a dealer and get raped that’s your stupid fault. It’s the Same with any luxury car. A decent mechanic can easily fix general wear and tear items. Mine has been super reliable!!! You can get a oil service and full video Inspection at Bentley for £800. Booked stamped job done. . Get local garage to do any issues. Love it and would recommend it to anyone. If you want fuel economy buy a Corsa !!!

You said it. Don't buy this car if you can't work on it-- and then complain about the cost of a mechanic.

I’ve driven a Bentley Continental convertible and the wait is pronounced as soon as you’re in the car, yet it comes with a weird sense of confidence. However, I’ve never own one. I definitely agree that it’s the type of car that needs to be taken care of. The onboard system is pretty good but like most cars of that caliber it’s so intricately interwoven. Even so that if finding a problem that caused a short scares a person then this will not be their forte. Awesome review!!

Had a 2006 GTC for 6 months and had to change all the vacuum lines at a cost of £5K+….. they are plastic with metal clips (another design flaw) which means the line cracks due to heat differentials. Also to change parking sensors you need to remove the bumper! That’ll be £500+ please!! It’s loaded with servo’s and motors and yes the batteries are a known major issue. I’d sum up a GTC as like going out with Naomi Campbell……Looks Great , drives great, but is both costly to keep and you’re never quite sure what you’ll face every day!

Late to the party. I have a pristine low mile XK as my commuter car. I wanted a GT but got the XK because it made financial sense at the time. Thinking about trading it in on a 2012+ GT........Do you miss your XKR?

To be honest I don't, but I rarely miss any of my cars after moving on, as I like trying out new ones pretty regularly. Plus in the case of the XKR, it just wasn't useable enough for me being effectively a 2 seater etc

I got a 2007 flying spur. I'm kinda young but wanted a fast family car. I put less than 2k miles a year on. My batteries died. I have the bentley charger. The plug in the trunk just stopped sending the power to battery. My headliner started to sag. The headliner is real leather so it's heavy. My friends supersport had the suspension fault. So it would not air up in the front. My bentley is lowered on h&r lowering module, bmc filters, ecu tune, catback exhaust kit, 22in vossen wheels. It's fast. Sometimes it breaks all the wheels loose if it's in sport mode. I just have bentley dealership do any an all maintenance. The dealership has done it since day one so I just continue with that same place. Freeway race is best. I beat a 2022 bmw x5m competition. He was beside me for a while but I slowly pulled on him.

Having just sold my fourth Bentley, the most recent being a 2016 GTC Mulliner Speed wit adaptive cruise etc. I am pining for it now. The only thing I needed to make this car more perfect would have been a drop-down sunspex holder as I’ve always had on my precious Audi A8. I’m now awaiting my new hybrid GTC.

Some a$$h0le damaged by outside rear view mirrors. Not the mirrors, but the turn signal indicator lights. The left side was completely ripped out. The right side had the prism lens removed. The problem is that the glass mirrors have to be removed to install the indicator lights, and my Bentley dealer says that there is a 50% chance they will break one of the mirrors. A replacement mirror is not cheap, and there is a possibility that both my mirrors will be broken.. The dealer hates to do this repair because the customer has to pay for the mirror that the service technician breaks, and the customer won't be happy. I am not happy. I would like to add that if I majored in Mechanical Engineering instead, I could list many things wrong with the Bentley design. Make it simple and effective, reliable, and easy to repair. The engineers who designed the Bentley didn't follow this.

If anyone one could work on it, if it was simple to repair, if it was reliable then no one would feel special in buying then. Its all part of the experience, the perceptions of value that only a few can have.

I’ve had a 2014 V8s continental for a little more than a year and so far so good. I average around 26 mpg general driving and it’s done 33 on a long trip as it shuts down half the cylinders on a run. You have to be careful where you park because it’s very big. A good independent dealer is a must as well I think. Mine do the servicing using Bentley parts but their labour is half the price. I bought the car from them and they agreed to buy it back based on condition and mileage only, so I won’t be penalised for not having a main dealer stamp. Insurance was 1/2 what I was paying for my Graturismo as well. Decent boot, tons of power and super comfy.

@@jetranger61 Hi Keith, sadly the dealer closed it’s doors a couple of months ago. They were called Kerridges ( in Suffolk )and had been going for 116 years! I’ve found a very good mechanic who is local, he runs Bentleys personally. He doesn’t sell cars though.

These look awesome, but frankly, for the money-I’d take a Tesla S and be done with it. Very tired of the many, many issues that come with European cars.
@bmpowellicio
@bmpowellicio 5 ай бұрын
Seems that European car problems exist mostly when in the US. Is it the weather, the garage staff or the way that they are driven? These cars run happily to very high mileages, I've done several 4000 mile trips from Wales to the Arctic and Italy. No issues. American cars (and aircraft) have a poor reputation over here, so perhaps we are all just being jingoistic, don't you think? In fact cars of all types are rarely unavailable for more than 1% of the time and then only for safety inspection, preventative maintenance and tyre swaps.

From my experience I'd say look into a Jaguar XKR and Maserati GranTurismo or ZF era Quattroporte. All exotics can have their issues, but those are far simpler than Bentley's and from my ownership time more reliable too

I've had a bentley flying spur for about 5 years. Pretty much hate it. It's a nice car. But it's just a car with some really weird design "flaws". Not fun to work on and the dealers suck the life out of you. If your not paying attention you can easily be doing 95 miles an hour. It is a super highway cruiser But it is really an odd car.

Was pissed off by it. The car parts that should go from a VW don't. Simply because they change a clip or some small detail and charge you X10. The air suspension is a nightmare. The electrics are a pain. You have to remove the engine to do anything:) and stuff like that. It's a nightmare. I'd never buy one used in my life. Only lease new and never ever buy a used one.
