Another thing that really fucks you up and detaches you from reality is just how much has gone wrong in such a short span from literally doing nothing. As if Subaru got transported to a different world where everything goes wrong. And that moment when his head falls off after seeing the giant wolf creature... really emphasizes it

Absolutely, especially thinking about the events of arc 3 and 4 (second half of season 1 and season 2). You don't realize it, but those event happen in the span of around two weeks from my knowledge. Re zero has a special place in my heart. Subaru is insanely relatable to me. It was like staring into a mirror, and I hated it at first. But seeing Subaru struggle through himself and the obstacles around him made me remember how important it is to not give up. I struggle every day with mental health issues. And even though I've never suffered as much as Subaru has. He inspired me to keep going. The series has made me cry many times. Rem's confession, the entire episode of parent and child. Him never being able to say anything about return by death is also relatable to me, because I find myself deep in depression but I can't even explain why. It feels so lonely and makes everyday life hell sometimes. If it wasn't for Re zero giving me some light I honestly don't know if I'd still be alive. I'm still a bit of a shut in with no direction, but I'm getting better and Subaru has become my favorite anime character along with Rider from Fate/Zero.

Also the ending, the revelation of who Satella is... (very likely, to get That reaction outta Subaru...).... oh. and ofc goes to greater lengths to saving subaru from himself.
@thelazywanderer_jt3 ай бұрын
This anime hits a lot harder when you discover that many of the mistakes subaru makes (not just with others but with himself) are mistakes you've also made. I broke away from a lot of good friends from handling those relationships the way subaru handled his bond with emilia; prioritising personal pride over someone else's wishes, failing to recognise someone's feelings. So to me episode 15 felt like a representation of the darkest times I've been through in my life. Times where time becomes a blur and it's hard to talk or think. And all this made me a fan of tappei as an author in an instant. He portrayed something THIS specific with pinpoint precision. And it also gave me the first breadcrumb to eventually understanding HOW esoteric and introspective the entire story of rezero actually is.

As much as _loathe_ I love Emilia, everything up to that point is absolutely wonderful. I wouldn't even despise the ending if it wasn't for how perfect the pacing and animation was for the buildup. It was so deeply moving. It's one of the best episodes of any anime, except for those 3 words

Lord and Sage of Echidnutters, I have stumbled upon this channel while season 2 core 1 of Re:Zero was nearing its end. You and your content as a whole were a big reason for my weebening. Immaculate reviews, wonderful storytelling of the If stories, as well as the latest new non-rezero stuff you'vd been doing. You shall forevermore hold a special place in my heart as long as I draw breath. Truly and honestly, thank you mate.

chills man... those videos hit even harder knowing that all your friends and other people you've met don't understand and don't want to understand why you love re:zero so much. i'm in the middle of rewatching it for the 3rd time and honestly, it's even better than before. I'm also a ln reader and until now i caught up with arc 6 which hit so damn hard that it became the best thing i've ever read. I just know that if one day they decide to animate it and if the production team puts their hearts into it, it's going to be the greatest anime ever.

You speak thy truth, my friend. It is a masterpiece episode, i remember clearly watching it in the night on my couch and at the end i was just alone with my jaw dropped trying to understand what i just watched, while the credits roll in and now i'm with tears ...i mean, it's weird considering we know he's just gonna reset and re-try but damn, that ending feels so ...final.

I remember when this first came out. I was blown away! This one episode has stayed with me for years and even when forgetting the name of the episode or even the name of the anime. These scenes stuck with me. No other episode of any tv series comes close.

5:54 honestly my soul almost went out when I watched this scene. I thought he's back at very first checkpoint and all of his progress lost because I saw the apple guy (that apple guy almost gives me a heart attack!). But I'm cried at joy when I see Rem, It gives me a sense of relief, hoping that this time, Subaru can overcome this loop... But he gives up... The last loop make him lose his sanity, breaking his confidence. This is the moment when I start to sympathized Subaru, he's not only an anime character but a human for me. He has many flaws, but he always tries to find a way to overcome the problem in front on him. He's always scared but never surrender to it. But episode 15 changed it, such a tragic. It's hard to see him at his breaking point; he finally gives up after experienced such an extreme despair, losing every person that is important to him time and time again, and the worst part is he will never escaped it even when he dies. That's why this anime is one of a best for me because it gives you a rollercoaster of emotions that any anime can't achieved even if you watched a hundred episodes in them. Re: Zero only takes 15 episodes to become a masterpiece.

It was fun watching your vids right after each ep of S2 back then because i didnt know wtf was going on every time and you break it down perfectly and I was an anime only. Yep this episode is GOATed and don't forget that legendary Bell & Hestia meme of Hestia promising to find Bell even when he's reborn and no longer Bell and then we are presented the same VAs with Petelgeuse and Rem LMAO! Congratz on 200k again to my fav anituber fck the haters and believe in S3 to finally come some day..

On the first watch, the episode felt like an entirely different anime. As if the animation encroached into our reality, a foreign invader. That moment Betelgeuse came on screen made it all the more real to me. I was there, right next to the tortured soul next to me. Watching, as it all unfolded. All the while my mind numbed it out.

When you have a symphonic piece that swells as movie-like credits move down the screen, you know how much love and effort they put into it; because to them it's more than an episode of an anime. It's something you can present at a filmfest. They could've started this episode saying "_White Fox Presents_" and it would've been justified. Fantastic video man; I'm sure the studio would be pleased to know somebody fully appreciate their work of art.
@stok54452 жыл бұрын
This was and still is the only episode of any anime that caused my jaw to literally drop. During those credits, all I could do is stare at the screen in equal parts awe and confusion. It's an absolute masterpiece.

The thing I like the most about ep 15 is how it presents us how helpless Subaru must have felt. Even turning crazy and refusing to do anything wasn’t enough to protect himself from being hurt. The After Credit scene shows us that in the end he is at the same point where he started and that he didn’t make any progress but still got hurt even more. And it also shows that the reason was his own bad personality which he admitted in ep 18. Again he got nothing in the end and that’s his own fault, that’s what the episode delivered us and that is what I liked the most.

Maybe I would get a little sad and be like as that sucks, but never cried. Oh… my… god… this episode, along with the episode in which Subaru says the what I call bc it’s easy to remember “let’s run away” speech to Rem MADE ME CRY LIKE HELL. Hell crap am I glad I was home alone because holy shit. This show is not only funny at some sections, but amazingly crafted, beautifully made, great action sequences, HEART BREAKING moments, horrifying and gruesome sections. I am obsessed with how actually amazing this show is and it is genuinely insane how much I am. It is all in all one of, nah, the BEST show I’ve ever watched. Absolutely amazing in every way. That’s my opinion at least. Edit: it also sucks i can’t share this with anyone or talk about it with anyone because no one I know has watched it or wants to watch it lol. I can’t exactly remember how I came across your channel. It would’ve been 3 years ago as I started getting into anime and Re:Zero eventually became one of the first few animes I watched. I believe it would’ve been your narration on the IF stories, maybe. This video gave so much insight, that even “a lot” would be an understatement. This series stuck out to me, it’s one I think back to a lot in my small list of anime I watch. And now I appreciate this episode that now hits harder than it did. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, the voice of Betelgeuse, (also famous for Inosuke from Demon Slayer) killed this role. It’s true, he was such a goofy character when we’re first introduced to him, but never did I laugh at nor mock him. Just like you mentioned, the set up for him to casually walk into, couldn’t make you laugh at him, if anything, laugh with him from the insanity this episode gave you. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka plays Betelgeuse perfectly. He sounds amazing whenever he has a mental freak out and it’s unsettling every and no matter the time and place rather than funny. On another note, he plays Season 2’s Betelgeuse also amazingly. We see this psycho that everyone despised for a second time. And he’s calm, composed, civil. He was no longer voiced as psychotic, but now calm like Fuutaro from Quintessential Quintuplets, which personally astounded me and made me appreciate these voice actors a lot more. The way that Season 2’s The Way of Life meant to share similarity to this episode hadn’t crossed my mind. I believe both are chilling in their own merit. But I believe Episode 15 wins, because it’s one of the first times tragedy struck hard. We first hand saw the death of everyone we personally knew, Way of Life’s case left a more unsettling chill that would make you look left and right really quickly out of fear, because there’s no trace of death. We’re either staring death and despair in the face, or it’s right in front us, but we just can’t see it (like the Authority of Sloth). I feel a lot of people refer to Season 2 Episode 10 of Demon Slayer to have a great end credits showing the destruction of a cliffhanger, but that one has a more “Noooo!” that makes you jump out of your seat screaming. But this Episode 15’s end credits have a more inside voice “Nooo” as you’re on the verge of breaking down, shaking your head like it’s a nightmare you desperately want to wake up from. Thanks for making this video Echidnut, really makes me appreciate the Re:Zero series and your hard work a lot more.
