Yeah I definitely say Death note too. Shows with a lot of fighting like Naruto and Dragonball Z are what we grew up with but it might be harder to get into for those who didn’t. A show like Death note which is more crime/investigation/thriller/serial killer stuff is something a lot of people would be more easily interested in. Like someone else said it also has a good English dub

I just received the black edition manga, and they say it’s way more packed (like more panels, and conversations) than the anime itself. Boutta read it man!!

The thing is starting with a classic like Death note may bring you to have a higher standard in a show, and it may just be a turn off for other "bad (b tier c tier) shows. I think the general census for Death Note is like a strong 8/10 but imo, its one the best shows that depicts an amazing well written and thought out story (my top 5). You literally wont find another one like it at this point - some say Todamachi Game (for instance of a newer show) is similar...which is no. There are so many plot holes and confusion with that one and although its enjoyable it, has some major flaws. Not to mention Death Note has age like fine wine - it doesn't seem or appear as an old show if you first watch it, the substance of it could be drop now and still hit (although maybe not commercially, still be held to high standards). Its the 'perfect' anime that got both critical acclaim and commercial success. My point is that for newer viewers that may continue in their "anime watching" experience, they just have to note that a lot of the other shows they may watch just won't have that level of story, character development, and of course, proper plot twists! ( ones that don't rely on being something completely new as if they just added it for the sake of surprise and not actually add to the rest of the story)

@@chrisb.heckons637 Just tell people to watch the good ones like death note. Death note is always the first one I suggest when people who dont watch anime ask what to watch. Its not overly "Japanese" like some anime which puts some people off because some things are confusing, and its not silly and "kiddy" like some people criticise anime for. Its more similar to western dramas and thrillers than a lot of anime so thats why I feel anime newbies can easily get into it. Plus its so amazingly well written.

The thing that a lot of weebs (and don't worry I'm the biggest weeb here) forget is that so many people who aren't exposed to anime can't deal with some of the tropes of the big popular animes. I showed a few non anime friends my anime and they thought that characters were overreacting and were ADHD or something, they thought their behaviors were crazy and over energetic and thought the chibi animations and sudden changes in the character animation and designs for a joke scene were just really strange. Any scene where the characters yelled or got really angry were "too much" for them. You cannot start people off with shounen that have heaps of this stuff and you definitely cannot start them off on some super otaku anime that does all this times 10. You need to go either Death Note, or Vinland Saga or Berserk or Ghost in the Shell or Cowboy Bebop, just something familiar but distinct enough to be anime

good things to also consider when recommending anime to newcomers: does the show have good animation and a good dub, look animation does not make a break a good anime but for a first timer you are going to want to lure em in with an eye candy. As for the Dub, look i believe sub is almost always better, but you grow into that, almost everyone starts with a dub cause thats what they are comfortable with, they can read subtitles once they are invested.

Exactly! People recommend anime and say the longest ones possible that hard to sot through. Like we like those bc we watched them as kids and probably didnt watch from the beginning, maybe like the middle when shot was popping off. But someone just starting isn’t necessarily going to like east blue or the search for the dragonballs. Give a little taste like he said, death note demon slayer. Then they can expand.

Mob psycho 100 is the absolute best starter anime for those who want to get into shounen For seinen, Vinland saga is a great starter as well. I would say berserk ( read the manga or watch the 1997 show) but that show will leave you traumatized if you don’t go in prepared. Edit: glad people in the comments are mentioning samurai champloo. That show is god tier

Attack on Titan is the best anime to recommend for a newbie with no prior anime watching experience. It's easy to understand (Initially) and entertaining as fuck. After getting hooked to AoT, I can see a newbie giving most anime a chance.

At my old age 29 lol I watched anime growing up but the 1st anime that I watched from ep.1 and finished was AOT and that was last year 🤦🏾🤣. For me that was a great starter. I love Naruto e.c.t but those storylines are not for the weak hearted 😂. Edit: I lied I watched Guyver as a kid from start to finish

Best anime to watch for beginners: - Fooly Cooly - Anything Shinichiro Watanabe - Anything Masaaki Yuasa - Anything Satoshi Kon - Anything Studio Ghibli - Yu Yu Hakusho - Ghost in the Shell - Akira - Angel’s Egg - Redline (2011) - Sword of the Stranger - Mononoke (2007) - Toradora! Nothing on this list is a huge commitment (except maybe Yu Yu Hakusho, at 112 episodes) and can be casually enjoyed as you start your anime journey.

As much as I love One Piece, it's too long for a beginner. You have to be very committed to watch. Naruto, the very first episode has the sexy jutsu. Something that could very easily scare people off of anime. As a superhero fan, my first anime was MHA. Good gateway series for me.

My friend told me to watch Sword Art Online, and i had never watched an anime prior to that. Although it has it's flaws, I will defend it until the day I die. I loved it so much and understood the deep story in it. I highly recommend it for beginners, and most people say to turn your brain off to enjoy, but you have to turn your brain on to understand that most of the things people criticize it for are actually the show's greatest strengths, just not looked at properly.

@@JbLoco watch it after the others I listed. FMAB and hunter hunter is good but if you watch the shorter shows first then move to the one punch Mob 100 then jump on AOT. I disagree with people saying it ruins expectations of other shows bcuz it’s ongoing still. And other new shows are great in their own right like jujutsu kaisen and Vinland saga which are on going so technically how many anime’s are a starter?
@JbLoco Жыл бұрын
@@Travisej2 Yeah technically any anime can be a starter but some would do better than others at introducing people to anime. FMAB is a anime I don’t think should be considered a starter I guess it could work but it’s too deep and good of a story to really have someone watch it for their first ones. AoT is also the same yeah it’s still going but showing someone that type of show early on might turn them off due to literal naked people running around or completely ruin expectations of other shows. Imagine watching AoT then watching some basic anime. Mob is definitely a great starter imo

I agree with the point at TikTok 3:26 because I grew up on Naruto( around 2007) as a kid and for years I’ve never watched one piece and always said it was too long, but in reality Naruto all together is pretty fucking long for the average show, so why not get into it plus, the story is dope so far(I’m still in East blue don’t spoil anything😂🔥) but I will say TikTok/shorts put me on to a couple scenes you that peaked my interest.

Animes that I would recommend for beginners are: 1. One Punch Man 2. Mob Psycho 100 3. Demon Slayer then, you can hop on to the - Death Note - Attack On Titan - Big 3 (Naruto / One Piece / Bleach) or Dragon Ball franchise *a lot of commitment bcs of too many episodes - Hunter x Hunter

Death Note, Erased, Ju Jitsu Kaisan and maybe mob Psycho are what to would recommend. Demon Slayer barely has a plot. I can’t recommend that show. Though the animation is pretty dope no cap.

Cardcaptor Sakura if you want a magical girl show with high budget animation with episodic storytelling that is well done and not too long. The first anime and the 2 movies, Clear Card is not done yet and kinda leans too much into the late original anime stuff and not enough episodic shenanigans.

Idk Death Note's old as hell too tho. It's hard to sell someone on an anime when the protag looks like early 2000s Jesse McCartney. Just recommend them anything Shinichirō Watanabe worked on(Cowboy Behop, Samurai Champloo, Michiko and Hatchin, Kids on the Slope, Carole and Tuesday, etc) or some Ghibli movies since they're timeless.
