i wrote this not that long ago: They fought against Spain, the Americans, and Japan. Up until 1991, when the U.S. military left following the eruption of Mount Pinatubo, the Philippines and the U.S. shared extensive military experiences. After World War II, the Philippines emerged as one of the most battle-hardened groups, which explains their notable success during the Korean War. Because the Philippines was a U.S. territory until 1946, their military institutions were modeled after American counterparts. This included the Philippine Army, Air Force, Navy, Constabulary, Marines, Scout Rangers, and Coast Guard. During the Vietnam War, the Philippines did not send combat troops for several reasons, including dealing with communist insurgencies at home and fulfilling obligations as a member of SEATO. Instead, they sent PHILCAG, a civic action group focused on humanitarian aid and construction. The strategies the U.S. used in Vietnam were influenced by lessons learned from the Philippine-American War and World War II against the Japanese. To this day, American troops continue to learn from the Philippine military, particularly in jungle warfare and survival, Filipino martial arts, asymmetric warfare, during the annual Balikatan exercises, which have been held since 1991. While the level of direct military collaboration has changed, the Philippine military maintains modern tactics and training through these yearly exercises with the U.S. So all they need is to update all their equipment, they'll be good.

Filipino soldiers are battle hardened. While most armies in the world only learn about war thru lectures and training, filipino learn war thru actual practice. Even now, phil scout rangers are still fighting in mindanao against islamic insurgents and communist rebels. Those wars never ended thus filipino soldiers are constantly trains in actual warfare. US, australian forces even learn jungle warfare from fthe ilipino army as filipino army are tops in jungle warfare. They can track, hunt down any adversary thru extreme skills. They face death constantly, and that cant be said to armies who have no real battle experience. That said, modern warfare are fought differently as before. Modern warfare involves the use of missles, massive amount of missles to break the will of the opponent. Until such time that enemy forces lands on the shore and engage in man to man warfare, filipino soldiers cannot do anything.

I've seen their war demonstrations and games. War experts have played out war scenarios over a 10 year period. They are stocked with powerful weapons. The experts said the first few days the death toll on both sides would be absolutely catastrophic tiwain would be devastated are military would be virtually wiped out only because of logistics china's main land is just a few 100 miles away our munitions stock pile is drained because of Ukraine troops deployed all over the world. Not throwing any Shade on my Philippino brothers, but I'd argue Indian forces are far more a trained and engaged on a regular basis. Indian army is the most experienced force in Asia. But I'm sure Philippines is doing a great job with what they have. Although lets be honest, local operations are better than having your soldiers guard posts anyday, but comparing that level of operation with that of an actual full fledged war between two countries are totally different. Localised experience can only pan out so much. But ig that us why they train with Americans.
