I mention Al Schmitt a number of times in this video. Sadly, Al passed away in April of 2021. His contribution to the audio engineering world cannot be overstated. Any engineer that you talk to will tell you that they learned something (if not everything) from Al. A sweet guy, a colossal talent, and a legend. Rest in peace, sir.

Veteran/ radio operator. Ex lead singer / bar tender and now... I'm building my home recording studio. Love the videos. the meat and potatoes of equalizers and mixers? The FX nob on my Q-802. That is apparently for a feed back destroyer...? is a 10 band equalizer equivalent to a computer band monitor device....? thanks. keep up the good work .

All great ideas for future videos! Thanks! But let me help you with the FX knob... That's nothing more than a post-fade auxiliary send. It's labeled FX because people typically use post fade auxes for sending signal to effect devices like reverb. Thanks for watching!

glad i found this channel! wow! its insane how well done your videos are! your also very good at teaching with clear, precise and detailed information. I am about to start my streaming career and wanted to learn more about the audio world. Recording and many more topics i will be researching into. Its a huge info dump but i know i need to do this. I am a semi-pro Flutist wishing to preform live on the internet. I found your videos to be very helpful as am currently gathering all the necessary equipment needed for a stream with superb audio. As i know so far i need the RIGHT mic for the job, and a mixer(pre-amp). I do have a great set of headphones with a very nice amp/dac. Not sure what else i need so am just learning about everything. If i have a question i look it up, its quite simple aahah Once again your amazing and thank you for your funny and informative videos! your awesome!

The best skill an engineer can have is listening... Not just to his mix skills but to the artist /client. I prefer psychology over technology. Well done again Mr Albini. If Mr B and Mr A were in the same room would they cancel each other out... Phase wise. 😉😉

Brilliant thoughts, I couldn't agree more. Especially: "The job of the audio engineer is to clearly understand the artist's vision and deliver that vision to the audience" - I can't count how many times artist's have said absolute nonsense to me about how they think I should mix their music and I always ask how they want it to SOUND. It'd kind of the same of what you are talking about in the video but from the other end. Everyone has to do what they are best at and the end result will be good :)

I was wondering if you could make a video on setting up a pre-amp, eq, compressor, headphone amp, usb interface in the proper order and how to connect them together in the right way. I currently use a usb mic and am thinking of upgrading to xlr. I would from there on like to start with slowly building a rack config. Your videos are great! You deserve more subs man :)

I subscribed and this video is excellent. I'm a bass player and I ask similar questions in my craft. Does what I'm playing make the band as a whole sound good? Am I connecting with the drummer and paying attention to the groove and kick drum? Existentially speaking, we are all working to serve an artistic purpose that is greater than our own. Even the lead artist whose name is on the ticket is inspired by something and trying to give that idea meaning. Perhaps this is what it means to have a servant's heart?

I want to binge-watch all your videos, but..there are not as many to complete a luxurious full day biniging! I've chew them all! :-) Also I would like to ask you about flatter echo and how can I reduce it in my kitchen. I make my KZbin videos. I have a plethora of microphones to work with, 2xNTG3, ATM350a, Rode NT4 (stereo) Zoom H6 and Sound devices mix-pre 6. I have an un flattering sound in my kitchen and I want to reduce it to a minimum. I heard about a matterial called Stratocell Whisper - sealed Air... -Have you heard of it? What are your thoughts about it? It claims to have an NRC=1. I really need help..I've been delaying my channel so long because of acoustic problems and bad sound in-general. for my post production studio room I've bought an SM7b but still there is flatter echo there too.. Maybe you could help me and also make videos on acoustics series. :-) Thank you so much and as I said, *I would binge watch your videos all day long, they as SO good.*
