Machete looks like a Tramontina Bolo. They run only about $6 in the states. No sheath and the edge needs work, but they're a mighty handy tool, with stellar price/performance ratio; much like the venerable classic bow-saw. Bolos handle hardwoods more readily than most other patterns. I agree, a good saw and chopper are the way to go for harvesting firewood while out back.

I agree with the machete. I just cut 31 logs each a minimum of 6in. for a bridge i built across the creek last week. I use it for cutting dirt bike trails about 4 days a week. Its the most versatile tool i use

Make a spare room in the sheath of your knife, to keep the bow saw blade in. ;)

I got that machette at an army surplus stor for 7.99, it was dull it's made in Brazil, I have another I bought 30 years ago, I paid 3 or 4 bucks for, it also made in Brazil, they make good machetes. I have a KA-Bar, fighting knife I like their stuff, I use an Ontario Air Force survival knife as my main carry. The Bow Saw hasn't lost its tension yet, Iam going to make a blade sheath to attach to my machete sheath, so I can have it with me all the time.

Great769, can you cut any tree and make it fire wood? Bc a lot of trees are too wet to start a fire. I'm a new subscriber and like your videos. Thanks.

@blamshiza You know your machete's my friend, I have two, one I got when I was in the service years ago, and the one in the vid which I got a couple of years ago, had to do a lot of work on the edges on both.

@G0MPgomp And shape the backside of your knife like a small saw .. That way you would only need that sheath!

I suppose this video is alright but I see no need to have to make a bow saw out of a stick. If you're going to pack a bow saw blade into the woods with you then why not just pack the bow saw and save yourself the hassle of having to try and find a stick that will bend without breaking yet be strong enough to put tension on the saw to allow you to cut with it. A machete isn't a very practical tool for chopping wood. A small axe or hatchet is much more practical and just as easy to carry.
