Growing up going to Central Oregon Kokanee lakes we would run a trolling flasher with what we called our "Kokanee Special" Thread a piece of corn up on the line, followed by a piece of nightcrawler, and a Pautzke Fireball on the tip of the hook.

Trolling in general is a passion! Kokanee fine tunes the system for anadromous. Trout and kokanee like similar, so it's an easy crossover! Early break up this winter here in NE Oregon....headed to a trout reservoir this weekend, Kokanee the next! Or it's steelhead fishing.. Steelhead rivers are looking solid........its good to have choices!! I guess I could steelhead fish on the way to the kokanee lake!!! Even better. :)

@seththompson45593 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure they are Daiwa Lexa 100 LC. Great kokanee reel. Coldwater low pro's are good too but too much line capacity for kokanee in my opinion.
@seththompson45593 жыл бұрын
Maybe I'm wrong. They do look like convectors except they swapped put the power handle or something.

Thanks for going through the different bait and scents. I'm new to Kokanee fishing. Just bought a boat, some downriggers and went after it double stacking the downriggers. We caught two Kokanee within an hour and had to get off the lake with the wind and waves. We used corn on the one side and maggots on the other with our dodgers and pink hoochie. Worked great! Look forward to seeing your other videos to learn more! This opens up a new world of fishing to me. Only caught cutthroat and rainbow so this is amazing!

Is 65lb braid too much for Kokanee? I have dedicated Kokanee rods but I want the line counters to be useful for larger species.
@micahgelfand82823 жыл бұрын
It's probably fine, braid is hard to use on a downrigger but it works for weights. Kokanee aren't very line shy
