For good outdoor gear well priced go to forces uniform,they sell grade one surplus from european armies,great sleeping bags ,bivvy bags all sorts of clothing,i do stealth camping,they also do qui vk delivery,

On the string vest thing, I use a Brynje, a Norwegian brand string top, they're excellent, they keep you both warm and cool as required, there's nothing better for wicking sweat away and trapping warm air, and they also take longer to smell if you're unable to clean them for a few days. I have two of them and wouldn't be without them, best base layer I've ever used. They're also very quick to dry out after washing.

I just saw a video about this actually - they look ridiculous (I guess you're wearing them under other things anyway) however the ability to quickly warm and cool your body by trapping air under another layer or venting makes a lot of sense. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmrYmZKlaZWCl68

@@Nikells I've worn one on it's own when it's hot, they look fine, just like a black shirt with mesh, they keep you cooler than anything else when going bare chested when through hiking isn't really an option.

I use the synthetic ones and rarely had a problem with them. I reckon I'm using them about 7 months of the year. I've always found the clothing side of wilderness/primitive living really interesting, especially how they did things in medieval Europe and the like. Enjoyed this little video too.

Fully agree with you that's all down to personal choice. I love my Merino base layers, whereas my good lady finds then cold and prefers man made fibres. Really looking forward to more of your videos showcasing your unique lifestyle 👍

subbed! i live up in scotland and was camping up ben nevis a few weeks ago. my choice for a baselayer is synthetic too, but i go alpha direct top and leggings. indeed it's good for hiking since its just insulation sewn into the mesh (for the airflow), and it's kinda fragile when bushwacking, but if im doing that i have another cheap layer top bung over me. i find that my layers tend to be loose fluffy knit > weave > fluffy knint > down/synthetic jacket so that i create as many air pockets as possible - air pockets are the way! i have the omm core hoodie as base layer but i would always normal just default to any sort of synthetic fleece baselayer when sitting about. i tend to just go on holiday for a few days and wildcamp for all of it. usually if im wet, i'll smash a hot nalgene bottle under by jacket and dry it out on me, synthetic dries so, so fast its brill.

@phtumshk we're synthetic top and bottom. This time of year tho.... gets a bit close, and debates need to be had whether to wear them through the day or just at night (I get too hot) the strange weather has something to do with it we feel. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼

Hiya you two...just wanted to ask what Cali means?.....also How do you keep your tent warm? I mean do you have to?Like candles,gas lamp etc....I went for solo walk and camp for 4 weeks so I know a little but any good tips I love cheers....I wish I could live the life...STAY FREE

@deothang eat dinner in your tent, have a small tent (less space to warm up). We find our bodies heat it up just fine and the dog too. Stick around and you'll see throughout our years. Cully is an endearing term we use for our subscribers... it is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and the meaning of Cully is "the woods" or as a name it means great chief or hey 👋🏽 or in a female sense, it's means Dove 🕊. Actually the string vest is making a comeback? Used in Antarctic Expedition 1955-1958 . Now selling in outdoors shops . Why ? The holes trap pockets of air , and regulat the body better than traditional base layers, apparently? I thought it was a joke, but no it Actually works.

I just watch a vid of a guy using 100% polyester mesh long sleeve top. Interesting. I’d love to afford a plaid (4m tartan) 100% wool. Not that I want to try it but 100% wool retains 80% of its thermal properties even when wet but I bet it’s bloody heavy and drying it must be a real bitch.

@harashigomari1690 houseless, not homeless. It's happened a couple of times, but have never accepted their kindness as it's not us. But being wild, doesn't have to make us dirty or lack a little pride in our appearances... however again, there has been times of grime too, usually to the oddjobbing as opposed to the way we live.
