My homeboy had this when he had XBox...we were both surprised at how good it was. We came up on Live, 2K, Street and Courtside...this game was fire. Iverson is one of the best displays of offense on this game...he does jump stops, hop skips, runs of screens in triple threat, does reverse layups....I might buy xbox just for this game no lie. it was an Xbox exclusive because Microsoft owns it and are the ones who worked on the game they also had NFL Fever, MLB Inside Pitch and Top spin Tennis Microsoft had their own sport studios back in the day when the original Xbox launched

It was the first game to make a charge button for defense. Reviewers complained that it was too easy to drive to the basket. But none of the reviewers at the time mentioned that charge button for defense on nba inside drive 2004. That charge button was to counter the driving. Nba2k4 at the time didn't give you the control of the defense for driving, it automatically just made driving harder instead of giving the player playing defense control over it. Then nba 2k5 copied it and subsequent 2ks had the charge button as well.

Thanks for this. I was on PlayStation 2 back then so I never got the Inside Drive experience. I was on the 2K bandwagon all the way back to 2K2 but 2K4 (aka ESPN NBA Basketball 2004) was a bit of a dumpster fire on account of their attempt to appeal to the streetball demographic (blocked shots had contrails that year, for instance). There's a lot of good things happening on this video; Inside Drive really could have been something.

Played this series back then and it was the best basketball game period but underrated and I’m gonna buy it again soon just to play because I collect old games like recently purchased Dreamcast with 2k and nfl 2k. I got xbox original NFSUG2. Halo of course. But I came here cuz I’ll be playing this game soon! And nice video man. 👍🏻

I used to play this with my brother back in the day had some really nice memories. I was personally a hockey fan but enjoyed playing this game with my brother. He passed away Feb 1st 2022. Thank you nba inside drive for some great memories. May you be in a better place Shan I miss you brother

I had NBA Inside Drive 2000 with Ray Allen on the cover and NFL Fever 2000 with Mark Brunell on the cover. Some of the first sports games I ever played! Some of the best also. I had been trying to get some of the Fever/Inside Drive games to work with 360 backwards compatibility but never could get it due to a shoddy aftermarket HDD on my arcade 360. This was years ago but I just ordered a 2tb modded Xbox with all these games included...I've been waiting almost half my life to try this games lmao can't wait.

I've just found this again and started playing it. Loved it as a kid and it's still so good. Do you know what the Symbols by players names mean? Lightning Bolt, Star, something that looks like a target and like a Uppercase I/Roman Numeral 1 etc

Literally the craziest thing I ever seen in a basketball game was in NBA shootout 97 I think or maybe shoot out 98. I was playing as the Chicago bulls and they had some mystery character who was obviously Michael Jordan and a friend was controlling Toni kukoc, he fell to the ground in front of the three-point line and this mystery character literally ran up his back jumped from the three point line and dunk the basketball!! The craziest part about it is when you go into the replay and rewind it and then Play it again you can see Toni kukoc actually bend down and when Jordan steps on his back he gets knocked further down to the floor but it felt like it was programmed into the game and not a glitch!!

The practice mode where you stand around shooting was in 03 as well. I actually like 03 better honestly. Both were better than live and 2k at the time. Most of the inside drive team left and went to work for 2k after Microsoft sports went under, that's why 2k adopted the shot meter and release feedback. I did like the baseline fadeaway in 2004 where you could run, shoot, and fade completely out of bounds behind the basket and still make the shot. That animation wasn't in 2003. These games released in my teenage high school years 😢😢. Now I'm an old man (34).... I wish I could go back in time to those simpler times. Sorry for rambling.
