Travel vlog to the best beach in the world as per Tripadvisor 2021 - Australia's Whitehaven Beach, plus an adventure to nearby Hill Inlet! This video captures our day trip here from Hamilton Island - come and see why you too should visit if you've got this destination on your bucket list!
Australia is renowned for its beaches, and Whitehaven Beach has been ranked by Tripadvisor in 2021 as being the best in the entire world. Does it live up to the hype? We say YES, although it is near impossible to actually say that for sure, given the world is filled with an endless array of stunning beaches, let alone Australia's gorgeous coastline.
Accessible only by boat, helicopter or seaplane, the remoteness of this location on Whitsunday Island (the largest of all the Whitsunday Islands by Queensland's Great Barrier Reef) truly makes you feel like you are a world away. It is comprised of a white sand as pure as you can get (99% pure silica) and coupled with turquoise waters receiving the Aussie sun's rays. All topped off by the nature and wildlife of the Whitsunday Island National Park, your eyes will be greeted with spectacular views every which way you turn.
We chose the Cruise Whitsunday's day trip, "Whitehaven Beach & Hill Inlet - Chill & Grill", mainly because we wanted to spend a lot more time on Whitehaven Beach without feeling rushed, also wanted to visit the picturesque Hill Inlet with its swirley blue waters, and we wanted to have lunch included. When researching your travel options, bear in mind that most tours coming here will spend less time on this beach as it's typically part of a tour that covers more destinations within the one trip - more often than not foregoing Hill Inlet. Ultimately it's up to you how you spend your time, you may not want to spend as much on this beach, but we really wanted to soak it up as much as we could and also get in amongst the blues of the inlet (both hikes we did to the vantage points were optional).
So if you're ever in the Whitsundays and are thinking about a day trip that will take you off the beaten track with views to remember for a lifetime, YES - make this a high priority on your itinerary!

How long did you get to spend at Hill Inlet? Is there time to chill out at the Northern end?

The hike to the hill inlet vantage point took maybe... 45 minutes each way, however you don't have to go on it, you can either hike yourselves and meet back at a certain time for the boat to take you back to base camp on Whitehaven. Or, you can choose not to go on the hike up Hlll Inlet altogether and just wonder at the base of the hill where all the sandy swirls and stingrays are. It's a different type of beautiful up close vs the vantage point. Both stunning. I reckon we had maybe... 2 hours all up at this northern end / hill inlet section.. If you do go on the guided tour to the top of the hill overlooking the inlet, you have maybe 15 minutes to spend at the vantage point before the group hikes back. Hope this helps!

Yes! We heard about Lucky Bay hitting #1 on the worlds50beaches list, such a great achievement! Whitehaven's #1 spot is from tripadvisor's 2021 listing :) We've never been to WA but it is right up the top of our Aussie to-do list, and it certainly looks like WA has a plethora of world class beaches for us to enjoy! We've noticed the West Aussie beaches certainly getting more limelight in recent years so we cannot wait to go there! The only issue is where to start with your great state? Ningaloo, Broome and also Margaret River are three places we'd love to explore
