bro, thank you so much, as a social activist its wooooooonderful to see people not afraid of us, that always bothered me, even living in the us for 2 years, mexico couple months, and been to portugal and nortj africa in my work once a year or so, thank u sooo much bro... keep exploring.. i live in the south santa catarina, i live in the capital city florianopolis, which is an island,the magic island we call it.. best surf.. best beach.. and there are many many favelas of course, just like every state... its quebrada we call it, but favela too.. .. but not necessarily in the hills in mini-cities.. we have those bairros, ''morro'' its called. which is ''the hills'' in english but less than half only, most are in a straight street level neihbourhood or even in the beach they sell.. but completely peaceful, maybe 1 or 2 guys from the 15, 20, around the beaach, selling. only 1 or 2 of them has a pistol hidden somewhere maybe even ay his home hundred meters away.. you know.. its different.. thats it.. thats the most common tho.. we do really have some hellholes even I DONT, GO..unless i have to.. s, hills or areas around the neighboorhoods in the bridges... and im someone that lived, was raised, in a quebrada you know....but you see, drug flow is and the guys are so low profile that even my mom didnt know it was that much...i think even today if i ask she will probably deny it.. its a matter of respect and a little toughness, maybe a mental issue, haha, not sure how to say it.. mental tloughness... i think.. the way i see we are a country that could become one of the top 10 around the globe someday who knows.... the problem is enaquiality.. gaps.. giant ones... but as people we brazilians not many people need alot of things to live.. u know.. most brazilians really survive and enjoy life even in thoise situations.. so im proud of that.. we need little to survive.. the masses, not greedy, the opposite, but the high class has been getting bigger and controlling certain aspects for the last 40 years.. and beforre that almost 30 years of military dictaatorship.. which locked up politicians and traffickers.. robbers.. all together... and they formed a protest movement named falange vermelha.. that became the red command.. comando vermelho...and... in my city... fishermen here are a social group with almost political influence at the beach and the trading in the sea, the economy... fish and other stuff that type, represents 20 maybe 30 % of the city's PIB, we call it.. in english i forgot.. tourishm beeing 55 if i recall... and the third, guess what? dont say drug business, its not just like that...the answer should be something else... its different, peaceful, good vibes, there is of course crimes and violence, but it is stricly controlled both by the crime and the police, living in the south of the island in '''morro das pedras'', it means the stone hills, or the hills of stone , idk.. shipments are critical... so highways and bridges are veeeery good man... this being the 6th biggest tour point in brazil, 1st in the south.. i live in the neighboorhood, or bairro, canasvieiras, in a single apartment, small, but ok, clean, we dont need much, of course im young in a way.. im 28, this apartment, about 80-100 meters from the beach, the water, and i pay 360 a month, that would be 80 dollars , of course im still evolving, daily, in my work and life... haha, and my nation.. im very proud like tht, haha, americans would probably see me as a patriot... and i also consider myself that, but strangely, that was rare here, still is in some places.. depends..

Spanish is close to Portuguese, from your perspective, but Brazilians hate being lumped in with the rest of Sth, or Latin America! At over 200 million speaking Brazilians, speak their language or yours. You don’t speak Spanish in France, simply because they share a border.

Youre on my TV, think this one already went on. But it dont matter since I'm now closer in brazil😆 the only thing is the water isn't very clear in Rio, same as some parts of the city. The immense part of beggers and sellers are sometimes quite anoying but.....I'm gonna open a beer and sit in the sun here I thin I realized it now....my TV is on repeat I think

I used to live there… Barra da Tijuca, Posto 3 where the “Feira” is and the skateboard park is… ViceRey restaurant and Papillon Motel road, but go to Grumari Beach,!or Prainha Beach (next to Grumari). Nicest beach in Rio.
