It's SO hard to find a really delicious beef and broccoli in restaurants. That's because simple dishes like this is actually tricky to make well, so you end up with a lot of mediocre ones out there. In this video I show you my tricks and tips for making the BEST version of this weeknight-friendly dish.
Your choice of beef, how you cut it, how you marinade it...are all very important. Even the seemingly straightforward broccoli, how you cut it and how you cook it makes ALL the difference. Watch this video to see the simple little things you can do to maximize flavour!

I'm gonna be honest, I was super pessimistic following this recipe. After following several previous recipes that always ended up in the beef being either extremely salty or too sweet, this ended up being PERFECT. Straight out of a restaurant.

This recipe is so good, it makes grown men cry and cures depression, and if served to the right people it would create world peace. It's truly truly truly amazing. Food like this is part of the meaning of life. I wish I had better words to describe it. Wow. Thank you so much for this.

Video is 100% on point as always and you made a lot of very valid and important points that are so critical to a good recipe. I always notice the huge chunks of veggies in people's stirfry. It seems like a lack of attention to detail.

Just made this, it is by far the best beef and broccoli I've ever had - the practical tips in this video are key, charring the broccoli and browning a tender cut of beef. I don't eat beef very often (I cook it maybe 2-3 times a year) so worth treating it well and this was a perfect weeknight meal with leftovers for lunch!

You nailed it. This is proper way of doing it. For better broccoli caramelisation, I throw the broccoli stem on a baking dish and put them under the grill until brown. I also use mirin instead of water for more complex flavor. Thanks for sharing

Hi Pailin, thank you very much for this video and all other recipes. I like this recipe a lot, but what I find is that the beef ( I use ribeye) tends to stick to the pan if I use the egg white and the starch in the marinade. I tried to minimise the amount of starch but it still sticks, so the bottom of the pan of the pan has some crusty bits by the end of cooking. I use a cast-iron pan which isn't too sticky normally and which heats to high temperatures. What am I doing wrong?

I made this with tofu instead of beef and ginger instead of garlic and it turned out great. I cut the tofu in bite size pieces and fried until golden brown before charing the broccoli. I just substituted julienned fresh ginger for garlic in the sauce. I also added some sliced regular onion when I added the sauce.
