Boudoir is important to me because after a marriage of 17 years and being always told "you'd be pretty IF..." I never felt like I was enough... UNTIL I had a boudoir shoot myself and then I was like HOLY HELL I'M FREAKING AMAZING JUST LIKE I AM! And then when I started shooting boudoir, dude, I thought there was no better feeling than having a boudoir shoot for myself until I was able to help someone else have those same feelings!

Boudoir photography has given me so much contentment and joy, theres no other type of photography that I've done that could make me cry when my clients cry after seeing thier images. Its 100% what I want to do for the rest of my career

Good luck to people who enter. I have a Nikon Z6 and am very happy. I think boudoir is interesting and something I'd like to try. Michael's videos have given so many great tips about it. I'm still hesitant to go for it as there seem to be a lot of negative perceptions some people have. I think people are the most interesting subjects, and I think for some of them, a boudoir setting is where they feel they most openly express themselves. Anyway, good luck and happy shooting to all.

@Neil Brooks Hi.. I like to ask you about Z6. I have Z6 and I'm not sure which lenses to use. For Z there is 50.1.8 or 35 1.8 or 85 1.8. 50mm 1.2 is to expensive for me at the moment. What about F mount with FTZ adapter? Thanks

Personally, boudoir helps me facilitate any client with any body image issues, also assisting them to be incredibly empowered. Most importantly, I'll be part of something special like anniversaries and birthdays, or life milestones such as pregnancy and weight loss, or even as a way to celebrate overcoming domestic violence or breast cancer. Being able to serve my client is an award in itself!!!

@xmlthegreat3 жыл бұрын
Having not actually done this genre and only here to learn, I feel differently. Like boudoir is more performative but for the model that performance requires digging down deep to access authentic emotion, which then makes it through to the shot. You have to want to be there and exude that sensuality so physically it's a performance but mentally it's the truth? I dunno, just what I feel.

Boudoir to me is helping an individual take back their identity. Especially after the year we have had in 2020, I think so many have lost a part of who they are and photographing them in their most vulnerable state is one way to help them love and appreciate the body that makes them who they are. It helps them see past what the world sees and rebuild their identity or maybe even grow into a newer, improved version of their past self. If I can help be a positive part of that change, then I know I will have been doing my job right.

When I had my first boudoir photo shoot with my friend Joy and she wanted me to be her photographer. She almost got confidences when she saw her picture I took. But when I said, don't worry we can try again and keep on going to get better capture moments and I also told her that, you have beautiful soul inside and outside, no matter what! She wanted to try again and I wanted to study more boudoir and do need wide angle lens upgrade to take whole room picture. I also got another friend asked me to do boudoir as well. I keep on learning and watching your boudoir photography. That's is why it is important to me to learns.

Not only to the photographer or creator, but for the models or everyday man or woman who can experience it as well. Having the ability to help someone see themselves in a way they normally don't or cant everyday is magical. A full frame body and a prime lens would take me helping others enjoy their own beauty to an entirely new level. Good luck to everyone!

I grew up in a very conservative home which means that even looking in the mirror while wearing lingere made me feel like I was going against Gods wishes. For the longest time I even struggled to understand what sexy is and how to even be sexy. When I discovered boudoir, everything that I learned was wrong was what I was mostly drawn to. I was shooting conservative photos in the beginning, but after my second boudoir shoot, suddenly everything made so so much sense. I have fallen inlove with the boudoir world because it is about power, confidence and exploring your feminity or masculinity. My clients have started to move differently because I am not just hiding behind the camera anymore. It is like the cliché the stars were alligned when I started shooting boudoir.

You definitely don’t need a full frame camera. If you’re comparing full frame to a rebel xti, then yes, I would say full frame all the way. However if I’m comparing my old canon RP or my Sony a7iii to my Fuji X series cameras, Fujifilm competes just as well as the others. I have never met anyone who saw one of my Fuji images and asked if it was full frame or not. If anything I get more praise because of the superior colors of Fuji. The only time I would grab another camera over Fuji is if I needed better autofocus. And even then, Fuji is getting better in that department. That said, I do love canon and I would recommend the RP for someone looking to get into canon.

In so many of the into camera for anything videos, no one really ever talks about subtleties of image quality. Example: Canon makes some of the best physical hardware you can want. Their performance is on par with or better than anything else, but they're behind the curve in image quality. Let me explain. I'm not talking about a perfectly exposed photo. Any camera can do well when everything is right. But what about when you want to really push the file (for creative reasons or because of a mistake). Most Nikon and Fuji cameras (and a number of Sony cameras) have sensors that are ISO invariant or close to it. If you're not familiar with that, in short it's shadow detail. The amount of clean detail the camera can capture that can be pulled out of the RAW file. On average you can recover 4-5 stops of detail with little to no penalty on an iso invariant camera. This allows you to underexpose the RAW file at a lower ISO to hold in highlights and lift those shadow details to desired levels with little to no noise penalty. Not a recommended workflow with a Canon. Shooting a GFX camera, you no doubt know how great and flexible those RAW files are. The kicker is that Fuji X series (their APS C cameras ) behave like this too. You can get some beautiful fast glass as well all on a relatively cheap body. An XE3 with a 23/2 (35 equiv) and 50/2 (75 equiv) lens can be had for just over $1200 in many places and that's a lot of camera for a little bit of cash. Arguably out of the full 35mm frame cameras you talked about, the Z5 with their 50/1.8 would arguably be the best bang for the buck when you take that kind of image quality into account. The Nikkor 50/1.8S lens (expensive for a 1.8 50mm lens) rivals some of the best 50mm lenses on the planet many times more expensive than it. Sorry for the extra nerd talk. Thanks for your content. I would love to see you really geek out on the GFX camera and lenses more. They're like the best kept secret for some absolutely mind blowing image quality that doesn't break the bank.
